Advantages: Very fun! , Good graphics, For charity

Disadvantages: None

Toy Racer is a really funny online racing game for the Dreamcast that was hard to resist when it cam out at Christmas time for just £4.99, plus the fact that £1 from every game sale would go to a certain charity – I cannot remember which one, but that is surely a great way to sell games – make them cheap, add appeal as well as helping those in need. A very nice thing to do at Christmas time! What is Toy Racer! Oh no, I know what you may be thinking, Toy Racer is another rubbish Dreamcast racing game, and the price being so low means that’s there’s no replay value right? That’s what I initially thought, but because some of the money went to charity and I did have £5 to spare, I got this title from No Cliché!

With only 4 main tracks, and 4 other tracks that are essentially the reverse of the main ones, you may feel that already the game won’t win in the longevity contest, but take a look at how simply everything fits together well – nothing is complicated, take the game online and you’ll be entertained for a good few hours each week! You can upload your scores and track times onto the high score tables, and also check out various news information, but the best game feature is the lag free online racing! Admittedly you are racing around in miniature toy cars, but it’s still great fun online as well as offline! Make sure you keep a watch at your side so you don’t break your bank with a phone bill too high!

You can use the keyboard to play, use the steering wheel or just if you prefer, use the normal game pad, which most people will do. The controls are simple, so anyone can get to grips with it.

The graphics are sharp and colourful, very much like the fabulous Toy Commander, and the game runs without any popup or frame rate problems. It’s a really fun addictive game that should be in everyone’s collection for such a low price. Riding over toothpaste and squeezing through
bookcases has never been so much fun!

A great game that deserves 5stars!

I don't think it gives an awful lot of replay value, but you are right about the charity thing - an excellent idea.
