Advantages: Good graphics
Disadvantages: Poor sound
UEFA Striker is the best footy game on the Dreamcast. It outshines the likes of Virtua Striker and Sega Worldwide Soccer both cosmetically, and playability wise. Graphically it is not as good as it could be, there are a few glitches and some lack of detail in the bakgrounds. A few frames of animation seem missing too. But it still looks good enough to do the job. But its the playability where this hame shines. It plays smoothly enough, although the controls take time to master and the keepers seem unbeatable for a while. But this game offers a bit more than the usual league, cup and friendly modes (of which there are plenty) but there are also a couple of modes that add longevity to the game. The first of these is classic matches, where you take control of a losing team in a real scenario from a while ago. Can you rewrite, or repeat history and win the day ? The second is a bit like the Virtua Tennis circuit mode, although far from as deep. You train, practice and learn skills, then you can take the certification test and see if you have mastered it all. If you acheive a certain score, you unlock new things in the game, and this makes for a challenge unlike any in a footy game before. UEFA Striker has its problems, its not as good as ISS on PSX or N64, but maybe they are the pinnacle. UEFA is a decent game, and the best on the DC at the moment for footy, but with a sequel on the way, as well as UEFA Dream soccer, maybe that will change. For now its good enough though, especially as I got it for a fiver at Toys R Us. The only downside is the sound. The in game noises are limited and the crowd dont make much noise, the ref doesnt blow for decisions so you can get confused.
