Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC as it is also known, could this be the king of fighters? Sadly not, but it does have some great strengths, but also a few flaws too. It features a training mode – harden up your fighter, no matter what style of fighting they posses – anything goes in UFC. There’s also a superb tournament mode, probably the best mode other than the 2 player versus mode – the idea is simple, pick a fighter, find an opponent and knock the wind out of them, using any fighting style you care to perform – it’s a very, very realistic game, you can hear every punch, every cry of pain, it’s not for the faint hearted, definitely not for the kids! Graphics are brilliant, but graphics don’t always make a game, although this and the control system are the strong points of Ultimate Fighting Championship, it lacks a certain something – something called depth. The game won’t hold your attention for very long really as there isn’t a really lengthy decent one-player mission or anything, and the fact that there’s only one arena – the same boring hexagonal arena, will help the boredom pour in. It’s good, just longevity what be it’s saving grace. Overall, the fighters are excellent, the graphics are realistic, but don’t expect this to last – so get it if you can find it for less than £20 I would say. 3 stars.
