Virtua Athlete is not my favourite athletics game - in fact I’d say it was one of the most short-lived gaming titles I have ever played on, the game will not last as long as it should, why? Let’s explain. Virtua Athlete is one of 3 Athletics games on the Dreamcast – Itself, Sydney 2000 and International Track & Field – ESPN, yet none seem to be of a high standard, Virtua Athlete manages to set itself firmly at the bottom of the pile. Main reason – in athletics and Olympics games, generally you want a lot of events to partake in. VA2K has 7. 7 events is not enough, the competition (i.e. the other games in the genre on the ... As a PlayStation owner, and now almost a Dreamcast adopter, my brother is on his holidays and I have taken to his Dreamcast over the past couple of weeks - it's a superb console, he has around 50 games for it, and I've been playing as many as I can - Virtua Athlete is one of them, and I have to say it is pretty good. I have had to call my mates round to play it, as the multiplayer apsects are far better than the single player, with up to four of you able to compete - it's a really fun athlete game, social events - unlimited, although unfortunately there are only 7 events in the game, still it is well worth buying, or playing - luckily I have all this ... On to yet another Dreamcast game, and today it’s the turn of Sega’s very own Virtua Athlete 2K to have my watchful game playing eye cast over it. Firstly, after reading some fairly ‘oh it looks good, but there’s only 7 events so it’s poor’ kind of reviews in magazines at so forth, I thought I’d get the game anyway – make my own mind up about it. At just £19.99 at an online games store it seemed to hard to resist, although it is available now for as little as £9.99! Many Playstation owners may have experienced Konami’s Track and Field athletic games, but for Saturn owners, like myself at the time, there was ... Read the complete review

Virtua Athlete 2K is a fun multiplayer and is a good game to play on your own. In it is 3 options of game – Exhibition, Practice and the addictable, Quick Tournament. Exhibition is a more complicated version of Quick Tournament – Which has all of the events available. If you would like to play just 6 events or less you can select that on the Exhibition mode. My favourite two players are W. Derbyshire (English) and Bruce Lenzi (USA). They are excellent runners and come across as overall best athletes. Another great athlete is Seymour Miller who is quite fast and excellent at the jumping events. Like most athletics games there is a ... Read the complete review
