Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: Limited
As a PlayStation owner, and now almost a Dreamcast adopter, my brother is on his holidays and I have taken to his Dreamcast over the past couple of weeks - it's a superb console, he has around 50 games for it, and I've been playing as many as I can - Virtua Athlete is one of them, and I have to say it is pretty good. I have had to call my mates round to play it, as the multiplayer apsects are far better than the single player, with up to four of you able to compete - it's a really fun athlete game, social events - unlimited, although unfortunately there are only 7 events in the game, still it is well worth buying, or playing - luckily I have all this gaming delight to experience without having to pay for it!! Great gameplay, good controls - easy to learn, although the ciruit mode does feel way too short with only 7 events, but four players is what it is all about. Graphically it looks superb, with realistic and fluid animation on the characters and acurately detailed arenas and stadiums, 3D effects galore - it looks very good indeed. Unlike Track and field though, the events here are far more limited and get boring after a couple of hours play. It's a fair game, I've had a look online - Gameplay.com seem to sell it for a good price. 4 stars.
