Advantages: Superb characters and story! Graphics are fair.

Disadvantages: Poor movements, takes a while to get into

Virtua Fighter 3 TB was not the success that Sega had hoped for, but then the arcade conversion wasn’t all that spectacular to say the least! The graphics are good, but pale in comparison to the might Soul Calibur and the fantastic Dead or Alive 2, and aren’t really a match for PS2’s Tekken Tag either, but the game is still worth a look at if you can find it for under £20. All the classic fighters are back with new moves and fighting styles.

The music should be a lot better though and the sound effects are poor. I hope that Virtua Fighter X, appearing on all formats in 2002, will be much better, I’m sure it will. The graphics, as I say aren’t bad, but the game play remains the same as in the Saturn version Virtua Fighter 2 (VF2 is a far better game then VF3 strangely!), and to those who are used to the superb Soul Calibur, you will find the game engine of VF3 a disappointment.

The players are hard to move around, and there’s no sense of realism compared to afore mentioned titles. I won’t dismiss the game as rubbish, but it isn’t as I had hoped for. Play it through and learn the moves, and you’ll be treated to a better all round experience, but for those who want a fast paced, pick up and play fighter I’d get Soul Calibur.
