Advantages: All star cast, great graphics
Disadvantages: A 2-button game, thumbs become sore
This game is amazing. I never thought a tennis game could be this popular
but with people but it is. Virtua Tennis is a game that every DC owner should have
regardless of thier taste for tennis or sports games in general. It is easily one of the most fun and impressive titles on the Dreamcast or any other system for that matter. This is easily one of my favorite games of all time. A great job by Sega.
As well as the gameplay, the vast selection of characters is great, all the famous tennis players make an apperanse in the game, and they each have their own strenghts and weakneses, for example, Tim Henman is a great vollyer, while Mark Phillipusis has a powerful serve.
The gameplay is awesome. When you pick up the controller and start playing for the first time, you don't really think it's all
that difficult. It's a 2 button game. However, while it is an easy game to start playing and get in to, it is a difficult
game to master. I'm not even close to being a great player. I'd say I'm a good player. There is so much strategy
invovled that one could probably play this game for a very long time and still not be considered a "Virtua Tennis
master".
I like all three modes this game has. Each one others something different.
While playing doubles with the CPU is fun, playing with another person is a total blast. This is a perfect multiplayer
game. I can't wait to have my first 4 player match with some buddies.
As for the graphics in this game, some of the most impressive graphics and animation that I have ever seen in a game complement the game. I personally think these are best graphics in any Dreamcast sports games. The players lok and move so realistically.
Another beauty is the detail that Sega put inot the surroundings of the players. There are ball boys, the umpire, a
nice crowd, line judges. The list goes on and on. If anyone sees this game and do
es not think it looks amazing, I'd
be shocked.
The sound the sound is great too. The sound of the ball hitting the raquet is very impressive and the players grunt and
the crowd sounds great. If that wasn't enough, you can even hear the various shoe sounds coming into contact
with the various court surfaces! Oh and on the French court the annoucner/umpire speaks in French. That was a
very cool touch.
The background music is great in my opinion. It really adds to the intensity of playing this game.
The main reason I liked this game is because of the great multipayer action, singles and doubles are really fun and the A.I is very good, and will keep you busy for a while.
