Advantages: Extremely Addictive

Disadvantages: Much the same as the last

WWP is a deceptively simple 2D turn based game. If you haven’t played it before you may wonder what all the fuss is about. The graphics are hardly impressive but that’s not what WWP is about. It’s about strategy, action and addictiveness.

Each player controls a team of worms who battle against other teams until there is only one worm left standing, so to speak. You have an massive array of weapons including air strikes, guns, bombs and so on. You also have special weapons like ninja ropes, transporters and drills that allow you to manoeuvre you worms about the screen.

There are around 20 special training arenas to perfect your skills and over 40 single player missions where you play against computer teams that gradually get more and more difficult. What makes this game, along with the other worm titles, WORMS, WORMS2 and WORMS ARMAGEDDON are the multiplayer options. This is a great laugh to play with your mates especially after a few beers!

Like any strategy game you have to plan well ahead which means you’ll find yourself building bridges and parachuting in to take out worms one at a time.

The background music suits the game and you can have loads of fun customising your army with taunting speech patterns from the in-game bank.

Another plus point are the on-line capabilities. Most on-line games are terrible over the Net because they are too fast, but because of the simplicity of WWP it works well.

Definitely worth buying, for hours of enjoyment.

The game itself is good but if you have Worms Armageddon this is barely worth a buy as it is almost identical.

Top stuff - I have Armageddon, but I've worked my way through the series right from the first one on the Amiga. A classic indeed! Great op!

The rest of the series is excellent, I prefer Worms Armageddon on the PC though. Steve.
