Britvic 7 Up
Advantages: can get cheap bottles
Disadvantages: not unique and too much bubbles
I have been drinking this alot lately because I have saw a deal on them. You can get 4 250ml bottle in Poundland for one pound which is quite a deal which has made me stock up on them over this holiday period.
Carbonated Water , Sugar , Citric Acid , Natural Lemon and Lime Flavouring , Malic Acid , Acidity Regulator (Sodium Citrate)
7up is quite a fizzy drink and sometimes when I drink it I feel as though the fizz takes over the natural taste of the actual drink. The drink itself has a strong lemony lime sort of taste and is quite bubbly when it is in my mouth. Because the drink has is so bubbly I have noticed that The only time I really ever taste the lemony lime flavour is when the drink enters my mouth. When ready to swallow and the bubbles kick in the drink loses it's flavour and tastes like a mouth full of bubbles. Once I swallow the drink and the taste of bubbles has gone it leaves my mouth with a lemon after taste and my breath smelling of lemon also. I generally do like the taste of 7up but when it is really fizzy with lots of bubbles it does make it less nice to drink but this is not always just depends were I buy it from.
7up for me doesn't really have a distinct taste. I find when drinking 7up there are many similar drinks out there so for me that alone makes the drink nothing exciting when drinking it.
My opinion of this drink is that it would be much more desirable if it wasn't so bubbly because the flavour itself is nice it's just those times when it's too much fizz/bubbles that make it a inconsistent drink. Being inconsistent in taste is not good because you can't always guarantee when buying 7up it will be the quality you want.
The smell of 7up is very much like lemon but at the same time when smelling it you can smell how fizzy the drink is going to be. This is not always but it depends on the retailer you got it from but definitely with the poundland ones I have been drinking recently they smell really fizzy. The smell is not strong but I noticed if I burp after drinking it the smell is like a lemon outburst.
Well usually when I get drinks I want something that will quench my thirst and is refreshing and this is definitely none of the above. In all honesty 7up is a nice drink but nothing special and the real reason I drink it so much these days is because I get it cheap but it's not really something I would go out my way for. Within a short while after drinking this drink I need more so in the end I do end up drinking more than a better quality drink.
Poundland - 4x250ml =£1
Asda - 2ltr = £1.98
Corner Shop - 500ml =£1.10
Although if you calculate the price it works out the same to buy a 2ltr bottle of 7up as the Poundland bottle it's much more convenient to get them from Poundland because they are in handy small bottles. 2ltr bottles also tend to get flat quickly because they are opened in my house constantly.
Summary: OK drink nothing special
