Galaxy Instant Hot Chocolate
by Abski2001 Galaxy Instant Hot Chocolate I have started drinking Galaxy Hot Chocolate like it is going out of fashion recently! Which I suppose speaks very highly of the Galaxy drink, but is not very good for my waistline! I am going to be reviewing the 25 gram sachets. The Galaxy Instant Hot Chocolate drink comes in a thick ... plastic sachet. This is slightly larger than your average instant drink packet and has the Galaxy branding all over it. The packet is a lovely rich brown chocolate colour with a lighter shade of brown where the product details are written and the Galaxy logo is written as if inscribed in melted chocolate. The packet has a tear opening on one of the ends of the sachet which is very easy to rip open without spilling the powder inside. On the back of the packet is all the information and instructions for the hot chocolate drink. The Drink This Instant hot chocolate drink is very simple to make with the instructions stating you simply add boiled water tot the powder. I also add a good glug of milk to my hot chocolate drink to make it a bit creamier, but this is my personal taste rather than vastly improving the taste of this delicious drink. To make this I pour the entire sachet contents into a large mug, the powder is a light brown colour and very fine and has a faint chocolate smell. I then boil my kettle and fill half the mug with water. I then stir the hot chocolate until the powder has dissolved into the water, this takes minimal effort and time as the powder is so fine and you don't get any lumps in your drink at all. After this I add my glug of milk and then top up with boiled water to the top, and then give it one last stir for luck. The Taste This Galaxy Hot Chocolate is a really delicious treat. It tastes rich, smooth and velvety and very indulgent. The chocolate is not quite the intense hit of chocolate that you get with a Galaxy chocolate bar, but it is a lighter and less sickly offering that is really moreish and I could easily drink many cups of this per day if I wasn't conscious of the calories in each mug. I was especially impressed at the lack of lumps in this instant drink; I have made hot chocolates before now that totally clog up the bottom of the mug and the top of the drink tastes like slightly off water. This drink stays a good reasonably thick consistency all the way through drinking and really is an indulgent hot chocolate drink. It tastes of a quality and premium hot chocolate and with a splash of squirty cream tastes and looks like a hot chocolate drink you would get in a nice café. A 25 gram serving of this will cost you 97 calories of your daily allowance which is why I try not to get too carried away with them. I find this is a lovely treat on a dark and cold night and for something even more special you can add your own extras such as marshmallows and cream. An absolutely gorgeous hot chocolate drink from Galaxy and also reasonable priced, currently a 370 gram tub of this hot chocolate is priced at £2 (on offer in Asda and Sainsbury's). Galaxy Instant Hot Chocolate
by ShaunaBlue I love a good cup of hot chocolate and after noticing that Galaxy do their own brand of hot chocolate, I decided to try it out because I like thier ordinary chocolate bars. The hot chocolate that I have has slightly different packaging to the one in the picture, but all the same wording. The word that crops up most on the front of this ... tub is 'silky' which I thought was very promising. The 370g tub is £2.59 from Sainsburys which is where I got it from and I think this is reasonable because of the amount of time it lasts. To prepare, you just put 4 teaspoons of the powder into a cup and then add water. This drink is 97 calories for a 25g serving made with 200mls of hot water. The taste is a massive advantage for me. I love that smooth chocolate taste. To me, it doesn't actually taste like normal Galaxy chocolate, but this is expected as it is just some powder and hot water. I have had other hot chocolate brands which taste much more chocolatey and not so sweet, which I prefer. Another advantage is that once the kettle is boiled and the water is added it takes just seconds to stir and then it is done! I like when instant really does mean instant. However the one thing I did find with this product is when I use the advised 4 teaspoons of the powder, it takes a while to make sure all the lumps have gone. Usually, I will find that there is a number of lumps of powder floating on top of my drink, which to me makes it look quite unappetising. So to fix this problem I use only 3 spoons of the powder, which to me, doesn't affect the taste, but does meant that I don't get as many lumps and also means that I use less of the powder each time and have to buy it less often. Overall, I think this is a good hot chocolate but I think 4 teaspoons of the powder is a little excessive. However, it is a good staple brand which you can play around with, like having marshmellows on top, or adding a little bit of sugar to make it so it fits your tastes. Read the complete review |

Galaxy Instant Hot Chocolate
by star3683 As I do not drink tea or coffee in the colder winter months I tend to have the odd mug of hot chocolate to warm me up instead. This winter I have tried quite a few different hot chocolate brands in the aim to find some new favourites. Asda sell a large variety of individual hot chocolate sachets and often have them on special offer ... allowing you to mix and match different ones. One of the hot chocolates that I have tried recently is the Galaxy instant hot chocolate. As I stated I purchased the individual 25g sachet from Asda which is currently priced at £0.27 or currently on offer at 5 sachets for just £1.00. You can also buy the Galaxy hot chocolate in a large 370g tub priced at Asda for £2.48. The sachet of Galaxy hot chocolate that I purchased came in a brown foil packet. On the front of the pack there is some basic information showing that the sachet contains one serving, how many calories the serving contains and that you just need to add water to make it. On the back of the packet you can find full ingredients listings, nutritional information and instructions for use. I tend to try and drink low calorie or lighter hot chocolates when I can as many contain quite a lot of sugar and calories but every now and again it is nice to have a treat. Each 25g serving of the Galaxy hot chocolate contains the following nutritional information: Calories - 97 Protein - 1.9g Carbohydrate - 17.3g Fat - 1.9g To make the hot chocolate you simply tear the packet open, indicated by the arrow pointing to a small tear at the end. Then simply pour the light brown coloured powder into mug, add hot water and stir. The hot chocolate powder seemed to dissolve quite quickly without too much stirring and seemed to have a nice frothy top. Under the frothy top the hot chocolate appeared to be quite a dark brown and looked quite rich for an instant hot chocolate and not at all watery which I was quite impressed by. As far as the taste of the hot chocolate goes I was slightly disappointed, the frothy top was nice and creamy but the hot chocolate underneath although looked good did taste a little bland. It did have quite a creamy taste but seemed to lack in chocolate flavour. I think if this hot chocolate contained a little more cocoa powder it could make it much more enjoyable drink. Overall this hot chocolate was by far not the worst instant hot chocolate I have tried but apart from the creaminess there was nothing else that would make me think that this was meant to taste like Galaxy chocolate as the chocolate taste was just not strong enough.
