Spire Nocturne Porter ... It proved to be so popular that the brewery decided to brew it again as one of his seasonal beers. Being involved in the beer from the conception, through the naming, to the eventual drinking makes it a little bit special for me. The fact that it was a good beer is certainly a bonus too! Now it has just been produced for its second year and I m definitely looking forward to drinking Spire Nocturne Porter once more. ~~~THE BREWERY. Spire Britannia Cream Ale ... rein to stock whatever beers it chooses – I was really pleased. This new pub was also leased by the people who run one of my local breweries, so there was also the chance to regularly get some of their beers. So, we duly got the bus over to see what was on offer over the Bank Holiday weekend. This is when we came to be drinking Britannia Cream Ale in the Britannia, Tupton! ~~~THE BREWERY. Spire Land of Hop & Glory ... love it when I find a really good beer. This is doubly good when that beer comes from a local brewery! So when we were introduced to a lovely hoppy beer from Spire Brewery I was more than happy to give it a try. ~~~THE BREWERY. Spire Brewery was set up by former schoolteacher and Scot’s Guard Bandsman David McLaren in spring 2006. The brewery is based on the Ireland Business Park in Staveley and is housed in two industrial bays. Inside the brewery buildings is a 10 barrel brewing plant and 6 handpumps, where brewery tours can be arranged.
