	Old Jamaica Ginger Beer ... for a number of spirits for those not adverse to something a bit stronger. For me though, ginger beer will always be a drink of innocent youth yet can be enjoyed by all ages (one of the few carbonated drinks where this is the case). It has of course got quite a bit of sugar in it but I don t think the other ingredients are too bad. Ginger not only holds great flavour but contains medicinal properties, although I am not sure how much of these will translate into the drink. Drinks such as this are for pure enjoyment however and definitely not a healthy option so pour yourself a glass, savour a drink which is refreshing, and forget all your worries, the Caribbean way!... 	Old Jamaica Ginger Beer ... have memories as a child in the 1970s of growing our own ginger beer, in bottles on the kitchen windowsill - there was some way of using the last bottle to start off the next batch of ginger beer, and we always seemed to have a supply on the go. I have always had a bit of a fondness for the stuff as a result. Ginger is a root plant, and is widely used for cooking and for its medicinal purposes. It has a warming effect when taken, and can provide a kick to your food when used in cooking, and can give your body a wake up call and your skin a wonderful tingly feeling when used in shower products and body lotions. 	Old Jamaica Ginger Beer ... Jamaica Ginger Beer is one of my absolute favourites both as a ginger beer and as a soft drink in general. I tend to buy six packs of the 330ml cans which look quite different from the picture above. The cans are a light beige colour with red diagonal stripes and golden palm trees along the bottom. The Old Jamaica font looks quite pirate-y which makes me think of Pirates of the Caribbean every time I drink it! I think 330ml is just the right size for this drink as I always end up leaving some for later when I buy a 500ml bottle. The drink itself is quite sweet and syrup with a strong ginger flavour.
