Remondiolu:
... is another beer in the Viru range this one is widely available throughout Estonia but is barely known outside of its home country. A modern beer in a modern bottle, it has a white hand mark on the label. Available only in a 1 litre plastic bottle, it s an extremely affordable beer. This beer doesn t ooze tradition at all but it s a reasonable lager of an average strength (5.3%), it tastes fairly similar ... Read the full review: Viru's best plastic bottled beer by dangaroo |

Frederik Pilsner ... of a standard pilsener range but like so many European Pilsners it fails to make any ground on its Czech cousins. Tastewise it s acceptable but doesn t set the world alight with an almost flavourless taste, the only notable taste is a slightly astringent bitter grassy hops taste. Easy to neck and relatively cheap, it s an extremely popular choice in Estonia, especially the district of the Viru Brewery, as well as back in Denmark but it s plain to see why this beer hasn t really caught on in a wider catchment area. It s definitely light weight though and would go down well with a heavy meal in particular. Estonia has better beers on offer and considering that the... Palmse ... and Palmse are part of the same Viru range, Toolse is an old castle near to the brewery whilst Palmse is a more regal grandiose manor. Palmse keep the tradition of red labels on dark beers and have a nice little picture of the manor of the same name on it. At 5.6% the beer is a tad stronger than Toolse and that applies not only to its ABV but also the flavour. When poured it is cola colour with a beige head, the head hangs around for a reasonable time and the drink is not too fizzy but has some carbonation which seems to last a long time too. One of the most impressive Estonian dark beer, perhaps the brewery s own description of a "velvety" taste is act... Read the full review: One of Estonia's best dark beers by dangaroo |

Toolse ... is yet another beer from the Viru Brewery in Estonia, available in 0.5 litre glass bottles, you d be forgiven for thinking that this was an Irish or Scottish beer as it proudly shows off a ruined castle on the green label. Whilst I can t really agree with the breweries thoughts on ancient fortresses representing a refreshing easy to drink beer, I can agree with the last part- Toolse is maybe a little bit too easy to drink if anything, it s 4.7% which is weakish but no crime, however the taste would suggest otherwise as it s a very watery beer. When poured, it s golden with a very small amount of head that soon disappears, the smell promises a good beer as there ... Read the full review: Smells better than it is by dangaroo |
