The picture on the pump clip is a black candle; the type used in a Black Mass by pagan worshippers. According to my mate at the brewery, after your pint of Black Mass you are supposed to ask for a pint of Absolution! If any of you read any of my beer reviews you will know that I have a bit of a liking for strong, dark beers. They are often dangerous, but very, very tasty. The beer I am reviewing today certainly fits into this category. It is strong, dark and rather special ~ it is Abbeydale Black Mass! ~~~THE BREWERY. Brewing began in 1996 and can be found just outside Sheffield city centre on Aizelwood Road, just off Abbeydale Road. The head brewer used to be employed at the Kelham Island brewery (the people who bought us the Champion Beer of Britain ~ Pale Rider) and use the equipment from the old Leaking Boot Brewery.
