Advantages: Good flavour and fragrance
Disadvantages: Smell lost after a few months & can lose the flavour if overchilled
Well it may be spelt vanilia but it certainly tastes of vanilla. I guess that vanilia is swedish for vanilla.
This is one of quite a large range range of flavoured vodkas produced by Absolut. It is fairly readily available I have seen it in both Tesco and Asda. A 70 cl bottle costs around the £15 mark. I must admit I tend to buy mine in the duty free shop when we go away and it tend to be a one litre bottle.
The taste of this vodka isn't too sweet. i find that some of the absolut range do tend to be a little on the sweet side. I love the smell of vanilla and the aroma hits you as soon as you open the bottle and it is a really natural fragrance. However I have found that after a few weeks of opening the smell does tend to fade somewhat and the alchohol smell takes over.
But whilst the smell may fade the taste does not deteriorate. The vodka remains clear even if you do adda mixer to it. I drink it neat so I can't really comment on how it tastes in a mixer. The taste is not too strong so it really complements the vodka rather than overpowering it. It is quite refreshing and the vanilla develops all the time you drink it. The vanilla is lost a little if you over chill the vodka - so if it is kept in the fridge I would take it out about 30 mins before you want to drink it just so that the flavours can develop fully.
This is a good addition to the range and I really like it.
Summary: A pleasant, not too sweet flavoured vodka
