Advantages: different varities!

Disadvantages: danger of alcohol...tut tut!

Absolut Vodka is availible all over the world but was originally sold in Sweden in 1879. There are loads of different varities now. I'm not alcoholic (I'm a very responsible young lady!...err, well, most of the time!) and I'm no expert on the art of vodka drinking! I've just tried a few of these and would like to share my thoughts...

**~~ABSOLUT VODKA~~**
Is the original. It is made from Winter Wheat and Water (whatever that's all about). You can have it on its own (I don't know why you'd want to, I think it tastes foul by itself!) or you can mix it with just about anything - Coca-Cola, Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice...anything that takes your fancy really! I'm not enough of an Vodka drinker to tell you if it's better than any other brand, but it seems OK to me and Absolut pride themselves on the quality of their Vodka - I guess it must be better than Sainbury's own or something!

**~~ABSOLUT PEPPAR~~**
This is spicy stuff apparently - I haven't tried it, sounds a bit much for me and would probably make me vomit and I'm not partial to spiciness! It's made from peppers from the capisicum family and jalapeno peppers. Oooh hot!

**~~ABSOLUT KURANT~~**
This is nice topped up with lemonade if you don't want it straight. It's nice and fruity and tastes quite sweet. On the Absolut website, there's a gorgeous recipe for an 'Absolut Berry Berry':

2 parts Absolut Kurant
1 Part Sugar Syrup
4 Parts Pineapple juice (I LOVE pineapples, yum yum yum!)
A dash of grenadine (This can be a bit difficult to find but they usually have it in supermarkets if you ask!)
3 Strawberries (Mmm scrummy too)

And all you have to do is blend it all together and serve it with crushed ice. Yummy!

**~~ABSOLUT CITRON~~**
This is nice too but isn't as nice as Absolut Kurant. It's got a really distinct lemon and lime taste to it. I
wouldn't try this one again though! Bit sickly, I thought!

**~~ABSOLUT MANDARIN~~**
Can't really comment as I haven't tried it! Sorry, just thought I'd let you know all the flavours there are!

**~~WHAT ELSE?~~**
I've had a couple of nights out at this Vodka Bar (which has been great fun!) and they've had the BEST vodka shots! Imagine, if you will, a shot of MilkyWay vodka...all nice, thick, chocolaty and creamy with a sharp kick of vodka. Lush! how about Mars Bar? Strawberries and Cream? Peaches and Cream? Fudge? Caramel? White Chocolate? Aero Mint?! Yes! They actually exist and if you've never tried one, you really have to. It's so tempting to lick the shot glass clean because it's that divine! Anyway, all these gorgeous shots are made by Absolut so keep an eye out for them! Although it's nice, don't go for the Aero Mine one because it's SO gloopy and very difficult to do the whole shot thing with, ideally you'd need a spoon for this baby!

~~**WHERE CAN I BUY ABSOLUT?~~**
The easiest stuff to get hold of is the original stuff although you can get most the flavours at off-licences. As far as I know the chocolatey shots are only availible in bars.

~~**HOW MUCH IS IT?*~~
A 70cl Absolut Vodka Blue costs £13.49 at most places. Both Smirnoff Vodka and supermarket's own brands are cheaper though. I'm not sure about the other Absolut flavours...probably near enough the same? Depending on where you socialise and drink, the amount you pay in a bar would vary, I would imagine. The chocolaty shots are about £2.60 each.

**~~DOES ABSOLUT HAVE A WEBSITE?~~**
Yes. It is absolut.com. It's a good website and really modern with some werid music playing in the background. It has a full history of the company and how they distill their vodka etc. You can find out more about the different varities and they've got some good cocktail recipes too.
They've made it quite complicated to navigate around and it can get frustrating as sometimes you don't have to click on things, just put your little pointer thingy over what you want to see. Some bits are quite bizarre, like if you click on shots it goes to this place which I'm not sure the point of. Anyway, if you're intrigued or just plain bored go and have a look. It's different to anything I've ever seen before!

**~~ONE LAST THING~~**
It would be irreponsible of me to finish my opinion without reminding all you Dooyooers(however responsible I'm sure you all are - far more responsible than me I'm sure!) the dangers of drinking too much alcohol. I admit, once you've tried a Caramel shot you just want to try another flavour but hey, you don't want to be paraletic! So drink safe and have fun!
