A stronghold in the real ale market. (Adnams Broadside)

Advantages: Boastful flavour and usually well priced.

Disadvantages: can become samey after ....many pints.

As a student residing in Colchester, the local pubs offered me a myriad of ales from brewers I had never tried before. The one that stuck out in my mind is one of the largest, and most competant of them all - Adnams.

The first time I tried the classic Broadside, I was instantly taken to it. It's excellent control of balanced flavour and strength made it a perfect example of a new beer I would be drinking again and again. While I tried my best to explore the various delights that Adnamas had to offer, there were very few that matched or surpassed the excellently crafted Broadside.

The Broadside is possibly Adnams best brew excluding a couple of specials. The dark texture contains a rich mix of fruity tones, as well as being deliciously hoppy with a flavour that lasts. It is these sorts of beers that make ale fans come back to the pub.

Maybe I am slightly biased or even tainted by the exquisite experience I had on first trying, but this is an ale I would recommend to anyone who has even the slightest senses when it comes to these thngs. Thumbs up to you, all at the Adnams brewery.

Summary: Adnams earn the respect many gives them with this classic ale.
