Advantages: Different

Disadvantages: Doesn't light as well as others, Doesn't seem to get you as drunk as others, Leaves annoying sticky residue in the mouth, needs washing down quickly

This is a spirit brought over from America and I was therefore a little reluctant to try it as frankly, other American products such as Budweiser and the like are just p*ss.

This is a sweet drink and thus you can get carried away drinking it which is a flaw. It leaves a sticky cinnamon residue on the back of the tongue, I am assuming this is the shock?

On its own it will take too much of your money to get lashed on this, and I only ever drink it to complement a pint. To give it credit, it's different.

However, spirits such as this serve no purpose other than to get you hammered. This is why you pay a couple of quid for a shot of the stuff. However Aftershock is not as good as other spirits in this department. Sambuca I believe is far better at getting you hammered. Granted, most spirits have the same % alcohol but some are better at getting you drunk than others.

Aftershock comes in two flavours, the red, which is Cinnamon, and the blue, which is Deep Cool Citrus. Neither of them taste amazing, the cinnamon flavour stays in your mouth longer I believe, but it's not something you want to stay there. It dries up your tongue and leaves a sticky residue.

If you want to have fun lighting your spirits this can provide some fun, but I believe the best at this is Sambuca, which is often done with a Coffee Bean too. All spirits light well obviously, but Vodka Tequila and Aftershock and the like don't light as easily. A good trick to try is the spitballs of fire, in which you don't swallow the drink but leave it just behind the lips, light it, and spit out balls of fire - takes some skill. There's hundreds of these but I'm not going into this in depth.

Overall I give this 3 stars. It's good for complementing your pint, but there're better alternatives.

Blue one is lovely and citrusy (is that a word?), the red one just makes me want to vomit...
