“ Manufacturer: Aldi / Fruit Juice „
I love fruit juice and drink an awful lot of it, now I'm dieting though I have to be very aware of the calorie content as some juices are deceptively full of sugar be it natural or added. In Aldi recently I was having a look at their range of juices when I noticed the Be Light range, while looking through the flavours my sister commented that I really should try this Apple and Banana juice as it was the best she'd tried in a long time. Now, this is the woman who classes Nescafe as the coffee connoisseur's choice so I wasn't sure how to take this advice! The first thing I must tell you is that this is a fruit juice DRINK, not a pure fruit juice, and contains artificial sweeteners. This naturally means that the drink is not as fruity as a pure juice would be but I must say it tastes much, much more natural than the Tropical Juice Drink I had recently from Morrisons. I can taste both the apple and banana in the juice, I was a little bit worried that the unusual flavour of the banana would spoil the drink for me but it mingled in with the apple beautifully and gave it a real substance that I find plain apple juice often lacks. I can't say I would have particularly noticed the banana at all if I hadn't known it was there, there's no real hit of banana as you'd find in a milkshake for example and it's really more an underlying flavour to make the apple juice taste less like cider! In my son in laws words! There's also a medley of other fruity flavours in this juice which I cannot identify, and have now thrown away the carton so I can't tell you what they are. It's a nice sweet juice though and apart from the artificial sweetener I can't see anything on the ingredients list that would offend anyone, and to be honest the artificial sweetener is needed as there is an underlying bitterness to this drink which is not unpleasant but the sweetener definitely makes it more palatable in my opinion. The best thing about this juice is that a 1 litre carton costs only 37p! This is an excellent price as the Value range in the supermarket are of much poorer quality and generally more expensive than this, especially the apple blends.
The Be Light range is manufactured for Aldi stores, which I have come to really like and have found myself to be piling in Be Light products in my shopping trolley when I have visited Aldi, in fact it is prompting me to visit Aldi on a more regular basis purely because I am finding their products to be excellent quality and for a much lower price than the run of the mill supermarkets that seem to be increasing their prices constantly at the moment. Another one of the Be Light products that I found adding into my trolley is the fruit juice within the range. The good thing about this fruit juice is that it comes in strange but nice flavours, Apple and Banana, Pineapple and Lemon. I added one of each into my trolley and for just 55p for a 1 litre carton, you can't get much better value for money. The product comes in a normal tetra pak carton, which is light blue in colour and has a picture of the various fruits that its contains on the front, the Be Leight logo and the basic nutritional values. The front and the back of the carton are exactly the same. The goof thing about this product is the pouring element. It has an actual screw cap on the top and when you remove this you remove the foil underneath and it makes pouring the product a lot more easier than a lot of the premium brands. On the Pineapple and Lemon product, when you take the cap off, the scent of pineapple hits you straight away and you would imagine that it was just pure pineapple juice, when you taste it the initial flavour is pineapple until you have actually swallowed it and then you can taste the zesty flavour of lemon. Its a great combination of flavour and makes it a little more unique as I have not seen another brand that actually does a flavour like this. I would definitely recommend the Be Light range to everyone, the products that I have tried have been fantastic and I will make sure that I keep trying the rest of the range.
