“ Manufacturer: Aldi / Type: Soft Drinks „
With Mum shopping a bit in Aldi lately I've been subject to quite a few different products of late. I love guzzling pop and one of my favourite flavours is Dandelion & Burdoch and my Mum knowing this decided to get me a bottle in with our weekly shop and was rather pleased it only cost about 49p!
2 litre clear plastic bottle with a curve to the middle of the it for ease of handling and to the top of it, it has a blue plastic screw on/off lid. The label around the main on the bottle is silver and on the front of that I'm told it is 'Topstar' Diet Dandelion & Burdoch and that it contains no artificial colours or flavours. that it is suitable for Vegetarians and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. Other information on the back of the bottle includes ingredients and allergy advice being listed (Contains: Gluten and barley), there is a full nutritional chart on there and contact details for Aldi are listed. Nice enough informative bottle this is.
Almost black in colour this 'pop' is more a slightly sparkling liquid opposed to highly fizzy. It does taste as you would expect dandelion & burdoch too slightly however it's very syrupy sweet and not in a sugary way but in a very added sweetener way and that taste not only makes the drink taste a bit flat as soon as it enters the mouth but also gives it a weird thickness (although it's like coloured water to look at of course) and that sweetener really lingers in the mouth way after drinking it.
Put ice in this and it flattens the bubbles immediately and with this drink even if you store it in the fridge it tends to go flat after a day although on the bottle it says it should stay fresh for up to 3 days, I personally haven't experienced this to be true.
It does has a flavour but sadly it's nothing more than sweetened black water and the after-taste makes this rather unpleasant actually. Not at all keen on this one and won't be drinking it again!
