Advantages: tasty, lasts long time, good value, healthy

Disadvantages: separates in coffee if not left to warm up

I am currently on a strictly non-dairy diet and a few months ago I switched to soya milk to use in hot drinks, cooking and on cereals. I did try rice milk but was not impressed.

Alpro Pro Soya is the tastiest brand I have found in the range. I buy the regular version which is slightly sweetened. It certainly tastes good on cereal (I actually prefer it to cows milk) and in cooking and baking, I have not noticed a huge difference.

Drinking it with tea or coffee is where the issues are. It does taste ok - not quite as good as cows milk but ok. It almost tastes a little like you've spilt some flour in your drink and leaves a nutty sort of aftertaste in your mouth. Also, when using with coffee, you must take it out of the fridge and let it warm up a little before pouring it in otherwise it will separate in the drink and look horrible! As long as the coffee has cooled a little and the soya milk has warmed, it will be fine.

Although this brand costs a little more than others (around 30p) I would say it is worth it. The main reason is that it tastes a little less nutty than others and is a more gentle transition to soya milk. Once opened, I keep it for up to a week and it still tastes ok to me.

Health wise it's pretty good and has no nasty additives or preservatives bunged in.

The packaging is appealing and the screw cap is really useful for keeping it fresh. It also makes pouring much easier and means that you can store it horizontally without any leakage.

All in all, I think it's definitely a good buy.
