"Tis the season to be jolly"...and this usually translates to "tis the season to drink lots". This year my tipple will be 'Disaronno'. The first time I tried Disaronno was last Christmas in a cup of posh coffee. I don't normally drink coffee but this was lovely and had a very sweet but pleasant taste. A GIFT OF LOVE --------------------- The story of Disaronno begins in Italy in 1925. A rich businessman commissioned a painter from Leonardo's School of Painting to create a Fresco of the Madonna. The painter had to find a beautiful model to pose for the portrait. After weeks of searching he came across the perfect model. They spent ... Read the complete review

Ameretto was created in Saronno in Italy (hence the name), and although several other companies make Ameretto, it's still the Disaronno brand that is the best known and most highly regarded. The tale starts in 1525 when a student at the Da Vinci School of art, Bernadino Luini was commissioned to paint a portrait of the Madonna (no, not the singing tart, the Virgin Mary!) Now, to paint a woman that many Christians regard as the model of morality, perfection, and kindness, this discerning painter knew he had to hunt down the perfect model. After long weeks of searching, he found her (although sadly her name has been lost in history). She was perfect: ... Read the complete review

Disaronno is possibly the tastiest alcoholic beverage in the world, its sweet, strong, tasty and incredibly versatile. This drink was first made in 1525, in Saronno, Italy. Its quite obvious to see where the name of the drink came from! The story goes that Bernadino Luini, who attended the Leonardo da Vinci School of art was commissioned to paint a fresco of the Madonna by the Santa Maria delle Grazie in Saronno. Apparantly, he spend ages finding the perfect model, patient, poised and beautiful. Finally he found her, an innkeeper whos name no-one knows. Anyways, they worked together for months, fell in love, and she created this tasty, almond flavoured ... Read the complete review

"HI, MY NAMES TIGER TIGER AND I'M AN AMARETTO ADDICT". ****MY STORY**** Let me tell you how my addiction to Amaretto started.... I was 17 when I first discovered Amaretto, I went to a friends housewarming party where I proceeded to drink so much that I passed out and was extremely ill the next day. I just couldn't believe my luck when I discovered an alcoholic drink that I actually really liked the taste off and got a bit carried away, until I had to be carried away quite literally. Forget the fact that I was under the legal drinking age, after all those summer nights swigging cheap cider and 20/20 in the park with my ... Read the complete review

You either hate it or you love it. Amaretto is a liqueur with a distinct flavour of almonds eventhough it is made with apricot pits kernels. I could not believe it when I heard that. I mean this stuff tastes 100% almond and you would be a fool to think otherwise. But as I have learnt many a time taste can deceive and this is certainly the case here. Amaretto is a liqueur that hails from a town called Saronno in Italy. Several distilleries produce their own Amaretto but the one that I recently purchased and still have at home is the Disaronno Amaretto. This is probably one of the most well known types and also probably the one that presents Amaretto in ... Read the complete review
