Angostura Bitters ... Angostura was first made by Dr J.G.B Siegert in the town of Angostura, in Venezuela. It is different from all other aromatic bitters as a result of its fine flavour and aroma. It is used in many classic cocktails such as the Pink Gin, Manhattan and Rum Punch, as well as adding Zest and flavour to non-alcoholic mixes such as tonic, lemonade and ginger ale.

Now it probably sound disgusting but it has such a nice taste. I don't think i've tried any other drink that has it in it. I first came across this when I tried a drink called a long vodka. What is in it I think is vodka, angostura bitter, lime juice and lemonade. Now all the ingredient that are on the list I recognised but the bitter gave it a totally different taste to any other drink I have tried. It is described as a skillfully blended aromatic preparation of gentian in combination with a variety of vegetable colouring matter.
