Asda Flavoured Milkshake Mix
Advantages: Easy to make, good way to get calcium
Disadvantages: Only filling the box half full!
I always shop at asda, as they always have great offers on every time i go in. This time, i noticed there was an offer on their own brand of milkshake. This was 2 boxes for £2, which i thought was a bargain as my boyfriend loves milkshake.
Whilst in asda i decided to compare the asda milkshake on offer to the nesquik milkshake. I was instantly drawn to the asda more than the nesquik, as the size of the box of asda milkshare was double the size of the nesquik! I thought, not only is it cheaper but you get more for your money aswell! I was wrong there as when i looked at both boxes, even though the nesquik milkshake box was smaller, it had 300g of milkshake powder in it. I thought surely being a much bigger box the asda one will have double. But the asda box said it had 350g, so only a 50gram difference when the box was double the size!
When i got home i opened the milkshake box and as i expected, it was only just over half full! I hate it when shops do this, why do it in such a big box if your only going to fill half of it!
The box was bright yellow, the same colour as nesquik but with a bit simpler packaging and advertising. They stated the same facts as nesquik - no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or hydrogenerated fats. In fact the asda brand, told you all of this twice on the front of the box?! This shows how keen asda are to tell you about how good there food and drinks are.
They both also stated they had added vitamins. The asda brand didnt tell you what vitamins where added, where as nesquik were clear that it was vitamin D, which helped you have strong bones.
To make the milkshake, all you need to do is add 2-3 teaspoons, depending on how strong the taste you like it, to a glass of cold milk. Stir the milk and its ready to drink!
Although i dont usually like milk myself, i cant stand the taste, this milkshake does help me get a bit of calcium as i can drink it with the banana taste. I dont like much i only manage half a glass! But i always try and drink it a few times a week to get some calcium, and those added vitamins for stronger bones!
I hate thick milk shakes, like the ones you get in McDonalds! These milk shake powders are not like that, the texture is the same as the milk you put in, just with a nicer taste!
There are 167 calories per 200ml drink of milk with this milk shake mix, which is quite a lot i think for a drink? I think it must be the sugars and sweetners they add to the mixture.
Asda has a refund policy on this product if you are not happy with it, but what is there not to like about it! My boyfriend loves this product, and also drinks the chocolate and strawberry flavours.
The taste is no different at all in mine or my boyfriends opinion, having tried the nesquik milk shake mix aswell.
Deffinately give this a go if you love milk shake! It works out so much cheaper than buying it ready made in bottles and a box lasts for ages!
Summary: A nice refreshing drink
