Asda Flavoured Milkshake Mix
Advantages: It tastes lovely, not too sweet nor fake!
Disadvantages: None for us!
**Firstly my review is of the same product, just the Strawberry flavoured version**
My 2 year old twin boys love their milk. It took me 2 years to get them off bottles as they adored them but despite being off bottles they still got to have at least one glass of milk a day, it's routine now. Milk to me though gets a bit boring so I like to liven up their drinks a little.
You can purchase plenty of milkshake mixes these days, Nesquik being a very popular one however trying to save money where possible I opted for Asda's own the other day.
Asda Strawberry Milkshake mix, with added vitamins, costs just over £1.20 for a 350g tub, which to me is really good consdering nesquik is mostly double that price. You can also buy it in other flavours, including the banana one pictured above, but our favourite flavour is strawberry.
The milkshake mix comes in a bright yellow cardboard box, with a yellow plastic pull out lid. When you first buy it the milkshake is protected by a foil film underneath the lid which you do have to peel off to get to your powder. The stawberry milkshake mix version is decorated in pink coloured 'milkshake' bubbles with a super cow (a cow with a pink cloak) which clings onto a straw coming out of it. Obviously the other flavours are decorated in different coloured bubbles to resemble their flavour. We are told on the tub that this milkshake mix contains no artificial colours, flavours or hydrogenated fat.
A 20g serving of this milkshake mix in 200ml of semi skimmed milk contains:
3.0g fat of which
The added vitamins within the milkshake mix include Vitamins A, D3, C Folic Acid amongst others.
By adding 2-3 teaspoons of this strawberry milkshake mix to your glass of milk and stirring you will soon have a lovely glass of strawberry milkshake.
The powder itself is a very pale pink in colour, therefore your glass of milk only turns a pale pink but don't be put off or don't add more as it tastes lovely. It tastes sweet, and it also tastes fruity, yet it doesn't taste too sweet or sugary or even 'fake' like I find nesquik does as I often find that quite sickly and too fake and sugary rather than a fruity tasting milkshake. This provides a very light tasting strawberry milkshake drink which is more than welcoming. This to me provides your typical milk drink with a bit of fruity flavour, and colour, so it's not quite as boring. Lovely!
Summary: A lovely taste milk drink when made up!
