Asda Blue Charge
Asda Blue Charge:
I drink a stupid amount of caffeine, most of it coming from energy drinks and the rest from coffee. Apart from the possible health implications the worst thing is the price of these things! I normally drink Relentless but at nearly two quid a can in my local shop and at least a quid in the supermarket I have to supplement it with a cheaper brand. Asda Blue Charge is one of the "cheap" energy drinks that I turn to most often.
Blue Charge costs 97p for a litre bottle or 43p for a 250ml can. Asda often have the litre bottles on offer at two for £1.50 which is when I tend to stock up. The bottles are made of weirdly thin grey plastic with blue lids and labels and what appears to be a shadowy image of a bulls face on the front.
Once opened you are greeted by a smell similar to that of children's medicine, luckily I like that smell but I know that it puts some people off. Taste wise it manages to be incredibly acidic and really sweet at the same time with a distinctly medicinal flavour too. It's a little syrupy and not too fizzy. I like the flavour now but I didn't when I first started drinking it, it definitely grows on you if you stick with it! I do find that Blue Charge gives me acid indigestion and I often end up having to take something to settle it down but I get indigestion a lot.
Because I drink so much caffeine I don't get the kind of buzz from energy that a lot if people do but after drinking Blue Charge I do feel more able to concentrate and I am a bit more likely to stop looking at stuff online and actually get on with something productive!
For me Blue Charge is a bit of a bargain and something that I will continue to buy and recommend for the foreseeable future. There are much nicer energy drinks available but in terms of value for money Blue Charge scores highly.
