Advantages: Tastes nice, wakes you up

Disadvantages: Not suitable for people who are sensitive to caffeine

Having spent nearly nine hours in A & E on Sunday night, I finally got home at 4.50am and had to be up again at 6am! I knew there was no way I was going to manage a full day at work on a hours sleep, so I popped into Asda before work to see what I could buy to keep me awake

I saw these tucked away on the bottom shelf for just 31p for a 250ml bottle, compared to 99p for the same amount of Red Bull it seemed pretty good to me, it was even cheaper than Asda's own brand.

The packaging is ok, a red and silver can, with 'Emerge' written in balck letters with a white outline.

On the back of the bottle the consumer is told that the drink contains caffeine and taurine, the drink has a high caffeine content of 30mg per 100ml. There is a warning that the drink is not suitable for anybody who is sensitive to caffeine.

I bought emerge light which contains 12.5 calories a bottle and no fat, which seemed great to me!

The taste is just like any energy drink, a fruity taste which is very distinctive to energy drinks. It has a pleasant aftertaste unlike other brands I have tried and although it is fizzy, it's not too fizzy.

It's certainly an effectivr drink, I felt much more awake after drinking in and I found the taste quite nice. When you compare the cost to the cost of Red Bull then it's definitely worth trying to see what you think afterall you can have three cans of emerge for the price of one can of Red Bull.

Summary: I would definitely recommend trying this
