      Nice evaporated milk!

When it comes to puddings and desserts I'm not really a one for them and tend to prefer much more savoury types of foods, though occasionally I do want something a bit sweet so I tend to keep in the cupboard tinned custards and creams and things like that and then if I fancy a sponge pudding or a fruit pie or something I have something to plop over it and indulge myself with!

This is why the other day when I was in Asda I picked a can of this up costing 50p. I really fancied some sponge with toffee sauce that evening and some of this over the top!

      The Packaging:

410g can with a mostly red label around it and a picture of some strawberries covered in the milk. I am told that it is Asda Evaporated Milk and that it contains no artificial colours, flavours or hydrogenated and that it is suitable for vegetarians and the size is stated (as I've listed already). On the back of the can other information listed includes ingredients and allergy advice being given along with a full nutritional breakdown chart, I'm told how to prepare the milk, storage details are given (consume within 3 days) and contact details for Asda are listed. Nice enough informative can this is though no ring-pull is provided so you do have to find out your tin opener!

      The Milk:

Using this, you have a couple of options. You can dilute it to make it a fresh milk equivalent if desired or in tea, coffee, cocoa and on desserts use it undiluted.

What this is, is a slightly thicker than average milk. It's white, smooth and glossy and tangy in flavour. I like the consistency of this alot however it does go greasy looking in hot drinks and make them really sweet. It isn't quite as thick as alot of creams as I have come across and is simply a cross between milk and cream! It doesn't whip up like cream mind you!

I find this evaporated milk to be very nice indeed, especially on desserts and puddings. A little tart, naturally sweetened it is a good quality product yet again from Asda and I really do like it!
