Advantages: Taste

Disadvantages: Sugar and calories

Recently I've been choosing different kinds of squash to make drinking water at work a bit more interesting. Having tried a similar product in the range and enjoyed it, I decided to go for a different flavour.

This white grape and peach flavour caught my eye, as it looked like it would be quite sweet and so enjoyable. It comes in a litre size plastic bottle with a dark green screw top lid. The juice itself is a pale yellow in colour, and the image on the bottle shows a bunch of grapes and a few peaches. It has a small green oval stating that, as it's Asda's own brand, it contains no artificial colours or flavours. It's also described as '50% fruit high juice', which I think is better than standard style squashes on the market.

It costs a very reasonable £1 for 1 litre, with the suggestion that this provides 20 servings when diluted to standard. As our office plastic cups are very tiny, I've managed to get a lot more servings out of it (or I would have done if my friends didn't insist on helping me drink it!).

The juice itself is pretty sweet, but it is nice and fruity and very refreshing. Both the white grapes and peach flavours are strong and really come through. It's definitely a pick me up in the morning or mid afternoon in the office as I don't drink tea or coffee.

Another advantage of it is that we can dilute it to taste, because I like very sweet things but one of my friends doesn't and so can just add a few drops. This also tends to make it last longer than buying regular juice. Additionally, it doesn't require refridgeration, important to me at work because the fridge is more like a tiny drinks cabinet.

Every 100ml (after standard dilution) apparently contains 39kcal and 9.5g of sugar. That is really high for a drink, but a good proportion of that does come from the fruit juice itself. 100ml also provides 20% of your vitamin C for the day.

Overall, I do enjoy drinking this juice. I think it's very reasonably priced against regular fruit juice, where I would only get 3 or 4 glasses from the carton for more money. However, the sugar in it means it's not as good as drinking water, obviously, but then we can't be good all the time.
