“ Manufacturer: Asda / Type: Soft Drinks „
Asda's own brand of lemonade is a snip at only 53p for a massive two litre sized bottle. The packaging is fairly plain and simple. It comes in the standard clear plastic bottle with the logo and description of the contents on the front and a bright blue twist of cap. Every bottle I have bought of this lemonade recently I reckon must have been shaken by a madman beforehand. Even though I take great care to remove the top slowly, I find that there is so much pressure inside the bottles that the contents just cannot wait to spatter me all over with sticky lemonade and it shoots out the top of the bottle and then runs down the sides. The little lad finds this hilarious, but I find it's just a pain in the bum.
The lemonade is best served very chilled so I always make sure I have stored mine in the fridge for at least a few hours before pouring it out. I pour it into a large tumbler and like to add a lot of ice too. Adding the ice 9especially as much as I do) tends to make the bubbles disappear quicker but I still find I like the addition of the ice with the drink.
The taste is pleasant. Not too sweet at all or sickly and with a nice gentle hint and definite aroma of lemons on the nostrils. The fizz manages to stay put for at least three days after opening the bottle, especially if I make sure that the screw top has been put back on nice and tightly. If the little lad has poured himself a drink and hasn't put the top back on securely, you can bet the fizz will be rapidly lost.
This is also a great drink to use as a mixer and I have had it with a whisky on a few occasions now. I am a pop lover and like to try different brands but I have to say that this particular fizzy pop is just as good as the top branded drinks and is considerably cheaper into the bargain.
Overall, it's a great refreshing drink and I can highly recommend it. Good stuff.
I always make sure that I buy lots of mixers during the run up to Christmas and whilst I will only buy coca cola I am not as fussy when I buy lemonade and so this year I decided to buy Asda's own brand lemonade.
The lemonade comes in a clear plastic bottle which holds two litres of lemonade. The bottle features a blue cap as well as a blue label which has the Asda chosen by you name as well as the product name and pictures of lots of bubbles. On the back of the bottle the label features an ingredients list, nutritional information and recycling information.
When you open the bottle for the first time you will notice that the lemonade is very fizzy and whilst I realise that this is a carbonated drink and thus is supposed to be fizzy I was still surprised by how quickly bubbles fly to the top of the bottle when opening the product for the first time and so I would advise that you take a little care with this to avoid spillages.
The lemonade is a clear liquid and when you smell it you will find that it smells lovely and sweet with a hint of lemons as expected. The taste of the lemonade is lovely and I see no difference in taste between this brand and more expensive ones such as Schweppes which I used to buy. The lemonade is really fizzy initially but this does settle down a while after it has been in the glass and to be honest I do prefer to allow it time to settle and even go a little flat! I find that I need to sip the lemonade or it makes me hiccup but I find it a really pleasant and refreshing taste.
This drink is nice and refreshing to have on its own and it is one that all of the family seem to enjoy. It is also an excellent mixer though and can be used with various spirits should you choose to use it in that way.
A 2l bottle of lemonade will cost you fifty two pence from Asda stores or online. I think that this is excellent value for a drink which is just as good as the more expensive and well known brands in my opinion.
Thank you for reading my review!
With it being a beautiful day almost like the summer again, it has enticed me to run to the supermarket and pick up some lemonade so that I can relax in the sunshine. The range of lemonades on the shelf was quite something but after much thought I decided on the supermarket own brand as it was a lot cheaper and also they had it in Diet which is exactly what I wanted. I only wanted a quick lemonade drink and to pay a lot seemed ridiculous.
Being a store only drink, the packaging was nothing to get excited over as it was just in a tall clear plastic bottle. The label around the middle is a light blue colour with a photo and the words 'Diet Lemonade' and the Asda logo standing strong above the image. There is a lot of information on the label for those who look into ingredients etc. The bottle comes in a 2L standard size and as soon as I bought my lemonade I shoved it in the fridge, to chill.
The bottle of lemonade comes out of the fridge, a bit steamed up but lovely and cold and as soon as the lid is opened, you get that lovely sounds of fizz emerging from it. The main nutritional facts are displayed on the label and they are worked out per 100ml which is 1 calorie and nil on sugars, saturates etc. This lemonade is suitable for vegetarians and the drink is free from artificial flavours and artificial colours. They recommend once opened to consume within 3 days.
The drink is all fizzy when poured into a glass and the usual clear colour, it smells citrusy and as soon as I take my first zip I get that quick sour moment when my mouth fills with a strong lemon taste and a mix of sharp fizziness. However, once this is over it is a satisfying feeling and it tastes really nice just perfect to quench thirst. The taste is not too tangy and just tastes as sweet as you want lemonade to be as well as refreshing at the same time.
I think with this lemonade it leaves you happily satisfied without needing to drink too much of it and it isn't addictive. As well as drinking on its own, I have also been using this drink as a mixer with cocktails and spirits and it seems to go really well. The drink doesn't overpower the spirits and blends in with them really nicely which I like. Another thing is this drink keeps its fizz if you keep the lid tightly screwed on and put back in the fridge, as there's nothing worse than flat lemonade.
As a lemonade drink and in terms of others that I have tried, I do think this is one of the nicer store's own brand ones out there at the moment. It is not too lemony and is just enough really and goes down really easily too. It is the perfect drink to have in stock and give to your family or share with friends and always handy to have lemonade in.
INGREDIENTS: Carbonated Water, Citric Acid, Acidity Regulator (Sodium Citrates), Natural Flavourings, Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Sweeteners (Sucralose, Sodium Saccharin) .
To buy some of Asda's lemonade you can buy a 2L bottle for 52p which is a bargain and really cheap or on a multibuy offer at 4 for £2.
The official Asda website is http://www.asda.com
After finishing off my Archers review, it made me think of the lemonade I usually use for it.. Asda's own! This is a lemonade that is so refreshing, makes such a good team with other drinks - and also tastes absolutely fine on its own!
Many people overlook the cheaper brands (like I do with Coca Cola) but this one is a perfect substitute for those more expensive ones. In fact, this is the one I choose over them anyway, because I feel they are less carbonated than the others - making them easier to drink.
Being lemonade though, it is very sticky if you spill it on anything! So can sometimes be a pain if it goes everywhere!
The bottle --> The 2l bottle that ASDA sells is a clear plastic bottle, with a dark blue label on, with a black strip of 'Asda Chosen for you' written on the top of this. The label is very clear, simple and just to the point. No fancy design, which is perfect for this sort of product.
The cost --> For a 2l bottle it costs 48p. Fantastic value!
Works with --> This product is great as a cheap mixer in alcoholic drinks, I recommend Archers. It also works is often the alternative I chose over coke when looking for a mixer with Smirnoff vodka - simply because it is a cheaper product. It is also gorgeous over ice (or ice cold itself so I would advise to leave in a cool place, great if you have room in the fridge). Also great in many cocktails.
Nutritional Values --> It contains no artificial colours, or flavours. Per 100ml of the drink I have the following values:
Fat, Sats and Salt: 0
So overall, it isn't bad for your health. As it is carbonated it isn't recommend to drink all the time, but compare it with most carbonated fizzy drinks out there and its fab! Its shelflife once opened is 3 days, but I find it goes flat after 1-2 anyway. But this is still fine. It tastes very sweet, and doesn't have an overpowering fizzy taste to it, which is why I put it as the best one out there! Especially on a budget!
I always keep a bottle of lemonade next to my bed and tend to get through a bottle every 2-3 days. I know it's not bank breaking, but when I'm paying £1.50 a bottle for a branded lemonade, the pennies start to add up. So I've taken to buying ASDAs own brand lemonade.
The drink comes in a clear, 2 litre bottle, like most drinks. It has a pale blue labler with slightly darker blue writing. The cap is dark blue and is a basic turn and lift lid.
The ingredients are pretty simple: carbonated water, citric acid, natural flavourings, preservative, sweeteners, acidity regulator. Also, there is a 'suitable for vegetarians' warning underneath the ingredients.
The nutritional values of the lemonade seem fair. Per 100ml there are 2kj of energy. Other than this, all of the other values are either nil or trace. As I drink lemonade most of the time, I am pretty happy that there is hardly anything in it that will make me pile on the pounds!
The drink has a nice lemony taste, but is not as strong as some branded flavours. It could be described as sparkling water with a hint of lemon.
Also, it is very very fizzy!! Which is lovely on a hot day or when you really need to quench your thirst.
Overall, I think that ASDA's lemonade is great! At around 40p a bottle you cannot go wrong.
The taste is nice enough, however, if you prefer a very strong lemon taste I would not recommend it. Also, it can be mixed with spirits and tastes just as good as other brands.
Asda lemonade is a nice tasting, cheap drink and perfect for a hot day.
When there is people over or when you are alone and just fancy a nice soft drink that has a good fizz treats your thurst!
It is cheap and thats the best thing I like about it, you can go to local shops and pay over a pound just for some lemonade to go with a certain drink. Why not just pop it on your Asda shop and save yourself some money and time.
I usually buy it with asda and the price is around 42p and what a deal that is for lemonade! That is cheaper than tesco and sainsburys and the local shop.
For two litres I would say you are getting more than your moneys worth here. To open the lemonade just twist the white or blue cap and pull off the top of the bottle then serve and replace cap to keep drink fresh.
The lemon taste:
The taste of the lemonade is quite lemony and its not bad. If you have older kids its perfect beause I dont think they really care about what type of lemonade they drink as long as its fizzy, I like the taste and it's not much of a different taste to the more higher priced lemonade so really its hard to tell the difference. Theres no artificial colours or flavors so no need to worry about the kids teeth!
If your not happy with the taste Adsa will fefund and replace you so its win, win but I like the taste anyway so I wont need the refund and for 42p what more do you want?
It has no fat or carbs in this drink so no need to worry about spoiling a diet and the ingredients are just really made up of water and citric acid really its alot less than the stuff the put in other named lemonades. To store this drink of lemonade you just keep in a cool dry place but once opened keep in the fridge and use within 3 days or it will not taste great. If you keep any longer the taste will start to become abit bland as the fizz starts to release from the bottle after a few days.
It is recycled:
This bottle is easy enough to recycle so no bother just once it had been drank put plastic cap into your rubbish bin and the bottle itself in the recycle bin.
Lovely with abit of ice on a cold day or even warmed up for those winter nights, overall a cheap drink with a nice taste to it graet for a bbq or party. 5 stars!
