“ Manufacturer: Asda / Type: Water „
Unfortunately the time has come for me to try and lose a bit weight - yet again. Gone are all the nice foods and drinks from over Christmas, and in come all the healthier choices. Although I tend to take diluted Juice into work thesedays I thought I would try and consume a bit more Water, but I find that plain Water is just a little bit boring, so I thought I would make a start with some Sparkling flavoured Water and see how it goes. The range from Asda comes in a few different flavours but I thought I would try this one and the Lemon and Lime first of all. The bottles come in a 1 litre bottle and they sell for 41p, but have an offer on just now of 4 bottles for £1.50, so I thought I would save a little and get the 4 of them. The bottle looks ok. It is a clear plastic bottle so you can see the clear water through the bottle. There is a simple wrap around label on the bottle and this has the nutritional information as well as a little picture of the fruit on the front. Per 250ml this has 2 calories, so since I am aiming to drink the whole bottle when at work then 8 calories isn't bad and I hope that this keeps me from reaching for food since it should hopefully fill me up. This Water tastes lovely. There is a good bit fizz through this Water but it isn't overly gassy. I think this is a bit more filling that still water though due to the gentle Bubbles. The flavouring of Grapefruit and Mandarin is just nice and well and it tastes natural and fresh and at least this makes the Water a bit more interesting as well, so I find that I can drink this quite easily. The Fizz doesn't last all that long though and I find even when I finish the bottle during a working day then I feel that the fizz is nearly all gone after around 4 hours and this is with me drinking it out a glass, so just pouring the Water out and then putting the cap on the bottle. A nice Water that should help me to keep drinking Water.
I love flavoured sparkling water. I have tried a few from different shops now (Asda and Tesco) and they are both of the same high flavour and quality. I like to vary between the two shops so that I can try different flavours as they both have a broad range. Asda tend to have more obscure flavours that I have never tried before, and this was one of them, Grapefruit and Mandarin. As the name suggests it is quite a summery drink. The flavour is not too strong and over powering, which is the same for the level of bubbles, sparkling is definitely more fitting than fizzy as it just a light sparkle! Grapefruit and madarin go quite well together. They are both quite strong flavours, neither of which seems to win out and on each drink you can taste one more than the other. They are both quite bitter tastes, but witrh the sweetness of the drink this effect is minimised luckily. I am not a huge fan of the grapefruit taste by itself as I find it quite overpowering but in this drink it is much calmer and blends in. I have tried a lot of the sparkling water ranges and have not yet found a flavour that I dont like. I have to say this is my least favorite flavour, but by any means that doesn't mean I dont like it. I'd certainly still buy it as I like a bit of variety.
I get through a lot of fizzy drinks and of late I've been trying to live a bit healthier. One of the changes I've made is to boot out the majority of my carbonated drinks and I've replaced them with other things! I bought this in Asda priced at 35p a bottle cos I really fancied it! The Packaging: 1L see-through plastic bottle with navy blue screw on/off lid to the top if it. Around the middle of the bottle there is a clear plastic label and on that in orange and yellow writing I'm told it is Asda Grapefruit & Mandarin Flavoured Spring Water 'Sparkling'. I'm also told is is suitable for Vegetarians and contains no artificial flavours and the size is stated (which I have listed already). On the back of the bottle ingredients, nutritional and storage information is given, contact details for Asda are given, and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice enough bottle and it's informative enough and easy to open etc. The Water: Gently sparkling and clear in it's appearance and as soon as you open it your met with the zesty aroma of mandarin in the main scent wise. Best served chilled or cold with ice this is nicely but naturally sweet opposed to tasting of nasty sweeteners and/or leaving a nasty after-taste. It's mainly mandarin in smell (as I mentioned earlier) and mainly tastes of that too. I can't really detect grapefruit flavouring in here at all thought this is zesty and I feel that this probably adds to that in a delicate way but it really isn't your face grapefruit wise. It is a refreshing drink too and rather tasty! Overall: A really nice, refreshing summertime drink! It does contain sweeteners but leaves no horrible after-taste after drinking it which I really appreciate! It is what it is and that's a hydrating orangy, zesty tasting drink!
