Advantages: Cheap and tasty.

Disadvantages: None!

I am not what you may deem a big tea drinker, but when I do have a cup I like to be like the proverbial "builders tea", this being strong and almost black, as the tea bag gets left in so long!

I know that there are some real tea connoisseurs out there, by this I mean the PG tips brigade or like my husbands late nan who would only ever drink Yorkshire tea, I am not though as particular! As long as the tea tastes nice and can brew a decent cuppa, I am not that bothered if it is made by a certain company, price being as important in my case as taste!

This being the case I thought I would review my tea of choice - "Asda teabags"

These are packaged in such a way that you will be under no illusions that this is a slightly cheaper branded item.
The box is small and square with the colour being a striking blue.
There is all the usual information featured on the front, this being brand name, product name with quantities included and description and the fact that this is an improved blend.

The lid lifts up to reveal a small perforated flap out of which you can take one bag at a time, though this is no use to me as I have a separate tea caddy to store the bags in.
On this removable flap there is a wealth of information to be had, most of it encouraging the drinker to, well drink more! The reasons given being that tea is very high in anti-oxidants, and the fact that if no milk or sugar is added the drink will be calorie free. Finally the bottom of the list starts to push the reader towards green teas, stating there health benefits and calorie burning qualities, this may well be the case but the smell alone is enough to put me off food, let alone drinking it!

When you open the box there is the initial strong smell of tea, this is lovely in itself not just a prelude to the actually brew!
The box I have bought contains 40 bags, though this is the smallest box you can buy, these can go up to boxes of 200 bags, good grief it would take me a decade to drink that many!

The teabags are loose in the box, you will notice a reasonable amount of tea leaf "dust" at the bottom of the box, I do tend to shake the bag a little before making a brew.
The teabags are round in shape with the hundreds of tiny perforations being visible, but not big enough to allow any pieces of leaf to escape.

Unfortunately gone are the days where I get to warm the tea pot, then fill with the appropriate amount of bags, then pouring on boiling water before covering with a hideous hand knitted tea cosy....mmm, shame!

I now usually have to make myself a cup, maybe pushing it at one for me and one for the hubby, so I tend to put a bag per cup, cover with boiling water, have a bit of a poke at the bag with a teaspoon then leave to stand for a good 5 minutes, or until permeating through the sides of the mug!
I then remove the bag and throw away, I cannot state highly enough how wrong it is to reuse the bag for a later brew up, a friend of mine at work uses the same bag all day, the tea being like pee by the last use, dirty baggage!

The taste is just as you would expect, strong with an ever so slightly tinny taste. I usually add that little bit extra sweetener, a tad more than a coffee as I love the bitter taste coffee offers, tea though should be tasty but sweet, and usually drank with a pack of biscuits or my particular favourite, alongside a full English breakfast. This of course is not the best thing to do as if drank with a meal, the tannin in the tea can leech out certain vitamins and minerals from the food, meaning that your body doesn't get chance to absorb them, though for how often there is a breakfast and a cuppa tea on the go, I can't imagine my body missing out on much!

The cost of these, as I mentioned earlier was a big draw for me, for a box of 40 bags you are looking around the 60p mark, great value for a really decent cup of rosy lea!

Before reading this review I didn't think that anyone could write such a good review of tea...I know that I wouldn't be able to. Nice review.
