Advantages: Trusted name, you know you pay for quality!

Disadvantages: Can be pricey!

Baileys is without a doubt one of the smoothest drinks you can drink. It goes well with ice, you can make amazing cheesecakes with it, Baileys home made ice-cream is to die for! and I have yet to meet a person who does not like it! It is undoubtedly, like an adult naughty milkshake!

Having travelled through really remote regions in the world, I have always managed to find someone somewhere who serves it and usually when that happens, you get asked what you're drinking and then, before you know it, the Baileys fan club has expanded...

Having always bought BAILEYS, I was given a sample of Sainsbury Taste the Difference Irish Cream last year before Christmas. I really liked it! Surprisingly!! Except the reality is, Baileys, the name is trusted and thats what people want!

I think the thing with Baileys is that it is sweet - so sweet in fact that you can somewhat lose track of how much you have and also you can somewhat forget it is 17%! Note here, I say the "thing" is with Baileys rather than problem as I know for some this isn't a problem! Also, the fact, you drink it with ice, therefore the ice melts on top - leaving you with a watery layer - which isn't nice and so you either do the sensible thing and swirl the glass! (or even more dangerously, top up!)

My gripe though is the cost. It isn't cheap. About 12.99 GBP for 70CL so you may be tempted by the supermarket own brand...!

Another not so great quality is the after taste. I find it similar to that of milk (obviously as it's lactose based) - leaves you with that strange sense of a slight thirst, where you swallow and yet it doesn't quite go away unless you have a glass of water!

However, don't let that put you off - especially if you happen to go to Ireland and have one. People always say that guiness tastes differently there. My last trip to Ireland, the Baileys tasted creamier and I was told because its only weeks old rather than having sat on the shelf for the last seven months! (Which means it has a crazy shelf life! Also a plus if you happen to only open the bottle on special occasions or if you are the only person at home who likes it...!)

For those of you doing weight watchers though, like my good self, it is a pain - 3 rediculously high points for a shot (party poopers) - I suppose it isn't sub headed "Irish Cream" for nothing...!

Summary: a delicious adult milkshake! Yum!

I am sorry for the rating but this was more a review about the Sainsburys Irish Cream than anything.
