Disadvantages: Watch out for Iron Brew substitutes

As an Englishman who spent several years in Scotland, it is impossible to stress quite how big Irn-Bru actually is North of the border. Put it this way; for everyone that orders a vodka and Coke on a night out in England, they would order a vodka andirb-Bru up in Scotland. It is sold in Mcdonalds, there are TV adverts aplenty and promotional campaigns all over the streets of Gkasgow, It really is huge. So much so, that in recent years, fake Irn-Bru was marketed by several large supermarkets - cleverly called "Iron Brew" or "Ion Brew". Ingenius.

The real thing though is glorious and I am only thankful to the young lady who introduced me to it. Zangier and possibly gassier than Coca-cola, Irn Bru really does quench your thirst; as well as providing much-needed relief from the dreaded hangover. In fact, Scotsmen swear by it as a cure for their illnesses. If you're a fan of Coke, you're sure to love this.

Marketing campaigns often venture south of the Scottish border, but the Glasgow-based company has never really anjoyed the same success. In some supermrkets, you are hard-pushed to even find the drink in stock.
