Advantages: Fizzy scret recipe

Disadvantages: Unhealthy

Its not really made with girders but does anyone remember the adverts for it? They always stood out and Irn bru is a drink that is recognised nearly everywhere, including abroad where it is sold a lot in Europe.

Irn Bru is made in Glasgow, in Soctland and is made with a "secret" recipe for over 100 years. Glasweigans are very proud of what is considered by some to be the "national drink" and Irn bru is far more popular there than Pepsi or Coke.

The packaging is orange and blue striped metal can with a easy pull back tab. Within the orange strip there is a grey sillouhette of a man with a sword (at least that's what I think it is).

***Ingredients***
carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, natural flavourings, malic acid, ammonium ferric citrate. Flavourings, preservatives, colours, caffeine- eek, not good for you at all!

***My Opinion***
Irn bru is a drink I don't particularly like. Its tangy and orangey which appeals to some people but it doesn't taste that good to me- far too sweet- and its really bad for you. It has a whopping 34.7g of sugar (which is 33% of an adult's daily recommended amount) in just one 330ml can. It also contains caffeine which hypes your body up and in large amounts can cause complications including heart problems. Of course, if this is drunk in moderation, this shouldn't be a problem but I hate the idea of having something so bad going through my body! Drink in moderation, if you have to all, I only gave it one star as it's a lot like red bull in my opinion- doesn't give you wings, but will probably mess up your insides!

It tastes ok. It's actually very difficult to desrcibe the flavour as its not fruity but is sweet, its not quite like Dr Pepper but something similar, it actually tastes like drinks such as Tang which is made with an orange powder (but Tang is missing the fizz).

The other thing is it's addictive- you want more and more so goodness knows what the "secret" recipe is!

There is a downside: when you drink only one can it makes your throat croaky! Tried and tested and suffered.
