Advantages: Can cure hangovers... Its a Northern thing

Disadvantages: The colour is a bit bright...

Barr Iron Bru is a classic in the North. It is one of those old brands who most people have heard of and most people have tried it at some point- normally when the corner shop only sells bizarre bottled drinks you have never heard of.

It is apparently a well kept Scottish Secret Iron Bru is miraculous for hangover cures.. I didn't believe this but witnessed its healing powers on a VERY hungover friend who was tentatively sipping a bottle and then recovered very rapidly before my eyes.

The curative hangover effects could be down to the quinine and caffeine it contains, quinine is supposed to help calm stomach problems and caffeine just perks you up. Together with some sugar and it is a fluid after all.. So I can see how it works.

Best served ice cold, it isn't pleasant to drink if it has been sat in your car in the sun for a few days.. The taste is like a very sweet nectar which is quite hard to describe (like describing Dr Pepper... ) but the colour is a bit off putting as its sort of a flourescent lucozade orignal orange colour. So next time you are feeling a little delicate, try the old Iron Bru to see if it will sort you out.

Summary: Worth a try if you haven't tried it before..
