Advantages: Tastes better than Methadone
Disadvantages: Bye Bye Teeth
Irn Bru [Pronounced Iron Brew] is a carbonated soft drink that was developed in Scotland in an attempt to destroy tooth enamel throughout the world.
Throughout the 1980's it was only available in Scotland but has since taken on the world, an often controversial but advertising campaign , seemingly annoying everyone without a sense of humour has seen it become a favourite brand throughout the world and this wee scottish drink is taking on the big boys such as pepsi and coke. It was originally advertised with the tagline "Made in Scotland, from girders" meaning if you drank it you were tough !
It can be bought in bottles and cans ranging from 250ml to 3 Litres, 330mls cans are the normal mode of transport from factory to belly and has been available in various guises such as sweets, ice cream and a sun-tan lotion.
The inevitable diet version came along and is my favourite, I find the full fat version far too sweet and a high calorie energy version is now available, but it is truly disgusting
I think that Irn Bru tastes like a sugary citrusy refreshing drink, and all I can say is it tastes like Irn Bru, it tastes like nothing else and nothing else tastes like Irn Bru !
One of the ingredients in Irn Bru is a closely guarded secret, and the recipe is known only to the Chairman, and one unnamed person [unnamed in case international terrorists kidnap him and force the secret out]. Whatever the secret ingredient is it matters, if you've tasted other Irn Bru copies you'll know how bad they are.
Back in the 1980's Irn Bru came only in glass bottles which could be taken back to shops to gain 10p, Glass cheques as they became known, this was very popular with poorer Scottish children and hordes of them could be seen scouring the land looking for empty bottles to exchange for sweets, chocolate and glue.
Irn Bru is often purported to be an excellent hangover cure , not in my opinion though, I prefer red bull, and was famously described as such in various jokes and at least one song by Billy Connolly.
In conclusion then if you like Irn Bru you'll always like it, if you've never tried it, you don't know what you're missing
Summary: Sugary and sweet, it does what it says on the can
