Advantages: Makes a change to coke

Disadvantages: Fizzy drinks rot your teeth :)

Being a Glasweigan lass myself, I have pretty much grown up with this stuff. You get this stuff everywhere here - not so common place in other parts of the UK though it's popularity has definately risen.

As others have said, it does have a difficult to describe taste. The bottle says it is a fruit drink but I don't know what fruit they are using because it tastes like none I've ever had. It tastes quite mild and maybe ever so slightly spicy and it's very sweet and fizzy. The diet version is not as sticky and syrupy in texture (as obviously there is less sugar in it).

Ask any Scottish person and I bet they will agree that the best Irn-Bru comes in the traditional Barr's glass bottles (or gless cheques as they are known as you used to get 20p off for taking them back to the shop for recycling!). This is when you will get the bast flavour. The plastic 2 litre bottles and cans just don't taste the same as the glass bottle.

And they do have some pretty funny tv ads too!

Summary: Give it a wee try
