Anyone who knows of the fascinating story of the survival and resurgence of Bateman’s will agree that it compares with anything that might have been dreamt up for Dallas or Dynasty. Bateman’s was founded in 1874 by the grandfather of the current Chairman, both of them going by the name of George. The founder George leased a brewery from one Edwin Crow. It was a great success and soon outgrew the premises. Five years later they moved the current location.
