Advantages: Reasonably Cheap, Nice Smell, Widely Available
Disadvantages: No after-taste
Beck's is brewed in strict acordance with the "Reinheitsgebot", the German Purity Law of 1516, which stipulates that only the natural ingredients of barley-malt, hops, yeast and pure water be used in the brewing process. I would say it fits in the category of beers which are designed for a night on the lash - designed to be drank in large quantities. Such drinks usually have little after-taste, similar drinks including Fosters or Carling. The lack of an after-taste invites another drink, which makes it a drink for such occasions. Having said that, it does also go great food such as Pizza or Curry, and can be very refreshing. I would say it goes down much better than it's competition, very smooth and very European. It's probably one of the most well known German lagers, and is aparently the most popular drink amongst German youngsters. Another great advantage is that it's cheap, and has a nice smell to it. It's also widely available, in pubs, restaurants, clubs, everywhere. It beats rivals such as Budweiser in every aspect. It's usually cheaper than Budweiser, and let's face it, can you really get drunk off that American stuff? All in all, a reliably good beer, little after-taste, easy to drink in large quantities, and usually reasonably priced.

- 06/08/01 Indeed spacelamb, only ever found a couple though. There's one in Newcastle I found ages ago, but I forget where now. If I find it I'll be back there more often. |
