Recently I've been buying healthier food in order to shift some weight, and I'd developed a bad habit of fizzy drinks so I decided to look for healthier alternatives that were a bit more interesting than water.

So when we went to Pitcher & Piano, I decided to try the (slightly pretentious sounding) organic lemonade. I think it cost around £2 for the bottle, which was about the size of a J2O bottle. Since then I've seen it in Asda for 96p, so it does work out well to buy from the supermarket, as I'd say it's worth about £1 - especially considering the bottle is glass.

The lemonade itself isn't noticeably fizzy, more like it's been made with sparkling water if anything, and has a nice, refreshing taste. It did taste like it was made from good quality ingredients, and the small bottle was a good amount for one serving. I think some people might find it too sickly if they drank it fast though.

The lemonade is more of a summer drink, and really cools you down. As it's reasonably expensive for a soft drink and takes up space, you'd probably have it fairly infrequently. However, from searching the Internet it looks like they also do bigger bottles which are better for families.

As well as being made from organic ingredients, the lemonade is also apparently hand made from a traditional family recipe. I'm not incredibly convinced that such a mass market product could be completely hand made without some kind of ethical cost (although maybe it's possible since the bottles would keep for such a long time), but I'm quite cynical about these things because of my old job - don't ask!

More advantages of this lemonade include its low number of ingredients: lemon, rind, sugar, carbonated spring water and citric acid - kind of like traditional recipes I guess! Also, the bottle is glass - which not only makes it seem prettier and classier, but is much easier for me to recycle since the local Sainsbury's doesn't accept plastic. However, this makes it less practical for carrying around on the go (although I seem to remember it has a screw top lid), and for that reason I do prefer the cans of organic lemonade.

Advantages

- Lovely taste, and refreshing
- Organic
- Reasonably priced from supermarkets
- Few ingredients
- Suitable for vegans
- Nice packaging (and easily recyclable for me personally)

Disadvantages

- Expensive if buying regularly
- High sugar content
- Not very practical for on the go.

In summary, I definitely suggest you try it. It might not be your favourite drink of all time, and it's a bit steep considering you can get a bottle of lemonade for 20p these days, but it's a good treat.

Summary: I'll buy it again
