Black Sheep Riggwelter:
... is another beer from one of my favorite breweries, Black Sheep Brewery! The word Riggwelter means a sheep that is unable to stand, and after a few of these it will totally have you riggweltered! It is fairly strong, and the flavor is lovely and intense, nice malt with several different hop flavors throughout! I am planning on making an All Grain clone of this beer, at the weekend, because it really is on... Read the full review: Mmm, Tasty! by flyingdutchwoman |

Black Sheep Ale ... guys, So Im sat here in sunny North Devon, (Yeah right haha.) Having a BBQ with the family, at the same time Im drinking a bottle of Black Sheep ale, that I randomly picked up from the Supermarket. Now, I don t know loads about beer, but I am learning. I brew my own and am saving to open a Microbrewery one day. Anyway, I just love this beer. It is a proper ale, (although it is force carbonated.) and it tastes wonderful. It is almost a pale ale, but with more hop aroma than most pale ales. It has a wonderful sweet initial taste. (Im guessing a light base malt?) followed by some aroma hops, which give it a sort of dry taste, and then an after taste of bitterness. This... Black Sheep Ale ... famous Black Sheep brewery, has been there for generations, it was owned by the legendary Theakstons family, who still brew in the same village, this Black Sheep company, was the brainchild of a Mr Paul Theakston, who apparently was not happy about a takeover, so set up on his own. The old Theakstons being taken over in 1988 by the giant Scottish & Newcastle, although still allowing Theakstons to be run as a separate company. now you knw the origin of the strange "Black Sheep" of the family name. the two breweries are still in Masham (pronounced Massam) in North Yorkshire. The Brewery do tours, and yes of course, tasting. You can see all about the br... Read the full review: Black Sheep Ale EWE drink during RAMadan! by firemanspam |

Black Sheep Riggwelter ... and can t get up without help, local Dales dialect says it is rigged or riggwelted. Riggwelter is a full flavoured strong Yorkshire ale brewed using our unusual Yorkshire Square fermentation system. The result is a well balanced, deep chestnut coloured ale. With its distinctive roast malt, Golding hops and banana fruit aromas, Riggwelter has the strongest and most complex flavour of all the Black Sheep beers. ABV 5.7% Tasting Notes: Riggwelter comes across immediately as rich, smoky and full of all those malty flavours associated with a strong dark ale. Chocolate, coffee and the banana reminded me of Bateman s Triple X although some argue with me about those banan... Read the full review: The Black Sheep of the Family by raphanius |
