... In the advert a 99 flake was stuck in the top like an ice cream. Its a pretty weak ale, coming in between 3.5% and 3.8% making it very easy to down quite a number of cans in one sitting. This also affects the price of a pack, with the majority of four packs being sold for around three pounds. If you like to buy your beer in bulk you can get larger packs that will obviously reduce the cost per can to possibly around fifty pence. The taste is good, if a little watery. Crowned Review Boddingtons Bitter: All For Me Grog! (932 words)

If you're wondering what grog is, it's Australia's slang for alcohol. I started using this word a lot, when I became a Prisoner Cell Block H fan. I'm a big Boddingtons fan, and I thought it might be interesting to research how Boddingtons came about. Of course, my own personal view will also be included. The History. Boddingtons all started in the city of Manchester, Manchester is situated in the Northwest and it's the third largest city in the UK. Before Boddingtons was discovered Manchester was a thriving industrial town, which mostly manufactured textiles. In the late 1700's, Manchester was booming, and due to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Creamy Satisfaction (349 words)

Rating:

Boddingtons was once promoted as the cream of Manchester is now the cream of almost anywhere and is sold in over thirty countries. Having initially started out as a lager drinker on leaving school, I made a career move into the more sensible field of bitter some years later and have remained so to this day. Although I will confess that I am one of those who'll swig down anything if it's on offer. Less gas, more taste, a deeper fuller flavour were the main reasons for the switch, along with the fact that bitter, although not immune, is less likely to be watered down in many a dubious establishment. Boddingtons is a very smooth brew with a rich ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Boddingtons Bitter: The Cream of, errr, Magor actually . . . . . (210 words)

Boddington's, - The Cream of Manchester! Well, that is what the adverts used to say, only now the lovely Boddington's bitter is made in a brewery in Magor, It is ran by Inbev, which is a name derived from Interbrew and AmBev when they merged, this company makes a huge range of beers. They are actually Belgian! Traditionally, this brew was made in Strangeways brewery, next to the famous prison, in Manchester, using water from an undeground well, directly underneath the brewery. The beer in cans was 3.8% ABV, that is Alcohol By Volume. The draught version was slightly stronger at 4.1 ABV. Boddington's is a very smooth bitter, and very pale in colour, a malty ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Cream of Manchester (194 words)

Boddington's ale has been going for over two hundred years and is adevertised using the tagline 'The Cream of Manchester' in a series of adverts with Mel Sykes in the early 90's. The most obvious thing about Boddington's is its large white head when poured, giving the impression that it has a creamy head. In the advert a 99 flake was stuck in the top like an ice cream. Its a pretty weak ale, coming in between 3.5% and 3.8% making it very easy to down quite a number of cans in one sitting. Boddingtons Bitter: Cream - go on then! (243 words)
by - written on 22/03/01

Boddingtons is a bit unusual for a bitter - although it is a nice drink it advertises itself more like a lareger than a bitter. Bitter is an old man's drink, let's be honest, but the adverts for Boddingtons tend to be funnier than you`d expect. Not hilarious, but they make you sit up and take notice. Anyway, enough about the adverts - what about the drink itself? Well, it`s a nice drink of bitter is the short version, but I suppose I should really write some more. The drink is nice and smooth, it really does just slide down your throat. This is a good point and a bad point - you want to keep on drinking it but it tends to fill me up. It isn`t just ...  Read the complete review
