Disadvantages: Horrible when warm

Boddington's ale has been going for over two hundred years and is adevertised using the tagline 'The Cream of Manchester' in a series of adverts with Mel Sykes in the early 90's. The most obvious thing about Boddington's is its large white head when poured, giving the impression that it has a creamy head. In the advert a 99 flake was stuck in the top like an ice cream.

Its a pretty weak ale, coming in between 3.5% and 3.8% making it very easy to down quite a number of cans in one sitting. This also affects the price of a pack, with the majority of four packs being sold for around three pounds. If you like to buy your beer in bulk you can get larger packs that will obviously reduce the cost per can to possibly around fifty pence.

The taste is good, if a little watery. Its incredibly smooth - even smoother than that of John Smiths Extra Smooth. Its best when served chilled -I don't know whether I could drink a warm one!

In weather like we have had recently, a can of Boddy's can be quite refreshing.

Summary: Inexpensive, relatively weak ale.
