Bombay Saphire Gin ... good a mixer as some others, but it's a real delight to just sip it on a hot Sunday afternoon.

... consumption of Gordons has declined hughely. The taste of the Bombay is very unique and just feels more natural. Where Gordan's tends to have a very plain taste, Bombay seems to have almost have a more pure taste with a more lemony edge to it which makes it pleasent even without the need for a mixer. I would class this as a premium gin and as a result it's not the cheapest available on the market. Even the smallest bottle size will set you back not far off from £15. However I think this extra premium is definetly worth &a...more

Premium Review Bombay Saphire Gin: A glowing gin (197 words)

Bombay Sapphire gin is orty percentent by volume and it has a rather distinctive taste and is viewed as a premium gin compared with other mainstream brands as it uses a slow distillation process in the production process. Personally I tend to go for vodka rather than gin but I do like to drink this especially on a hot summers afternoon in a nice tall glass full of ice and some tonic water although I prefer lime rather than a slice of lemon in my drink. I find Bombay Sapphire to be a smoother drink than some other brads and it does not have the harshness to it that I find Gordons has. It comes in a distinctive blue bottle and costs £16.99 a bottle at ...  Read the complete review

BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Even its name is enough to send a shiver down my spine, ah what sweet, memories I have of this drink. Instantly I am transported to the banks of a river, the sun is beating down and the day is nigh on perfect. The hamper is packed with allsorts of goodies, the finest cheeses and of course a box of luxury chocolate but nestled on top of everything is a bottle of blue gin. I refer of course to my first ever bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin. It was the sort of summers day when the only sounds you can hear are the sounds of summer, the crickets sang and in the distance I could just make out the sound of leather on willow. Meanwhile the river lapped ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bombay Saphire Gin: Gin's finest jewel! (502 words)

I have never been a gin drinker. I'm not sure if it's the taste or just the idea that gin is more appropriate for middle-aged women than teenage girls. However, for reasons I can't quite remember, I decided to join my mother in a gin and tonic on christmas day of last year. Her gin of choice, was and is Bombay Sapphire and I have to say that my mind was changed. For me, vodka or whiskey will always be my tipple of choice but occasionally I love a glass of Bombay Sapphire and tonic. ~What is it?~ Bombay Sapphire is what is typically though of as 0 premium gin. It contains almonds, angelica, lemon peel, coriander, liquorice, cassia bark, juniper berries, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Gin Gin (600 words)

I was first introduced to Gin when I worked as an outdoor pursuits instructor. All of the watersports staff seemed to drink it, but unfortunately, given the low wages, it was as rough as rats and I decided that I wasn’t that keen on gin. Since then however, I have had the pleasure of discovering that not all gins are over-perfumed and leave a harsh after-taste – and the best one that I have found, by a mile, is Bombay Sapphire. Gin is a distilled spirit, and was originally used by the Dutch back in the seventeenth century as a medicine to treat stomach problems, gout and gallstones. They started to flavour it with juniper to improve the taste, and for ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bombay Saphire Gin: One of the finest Gins in Christendom (490 words)

At University I had a bit of a reputation for being a "Gin-sodden old bean"* as I would often be seen leaving Threshers, Victoria Wines or Bottoms Up with a bottle of gin. Not just any gin, or alcohol blend that purported to be gin, but Bombay Blue Sapphire. Whilst I would not advocate the long term merits of consuming it at a rate of two bottles a week - it is rather pricey for that, especially if you are a student on a budget, I would maintain that Sapphire is probably the finest gins in Christendom. I am a fairly seasoned gin-drinker, having quaffed all sorts of gins through Safeways own brand, Beefeater, Gordons, Tanqueray before I settled on ...  Read the complete review
