      Great and definately worth trying!

Boost Smoothies are a relatively new thing to hit the U.K, they have been very popular in Australia for several years though. Within the past few months the Boost Smoothies company have set up quite a few juice bars in the U.K. This is great news for people who love fresh smoothies but unfortunately there are only a few in the country and these are only in 4 major cities; London, Manchester, Nottingham and Oxford. However for those of us who don't live near a Juice Bar there is a solution.

Boost Juice Bars have now teamed up with Nestle to make 750ml bottles of their smoothies more available in the U.K although as far as I know they are currently only available from Tesco. To tell you the truth I only started drinking these because their website was giving away vouchers for a free bottle and seeing as it was free I thought I might as well give them a go. Normally a 750ml bottle of one of these smoothies would cost you £2.50 which isn't bad considering that is a lot of smoothie and really good quality.

There are 4 flavours to chose from, Smashing Strawberry, Berry Blitz, Tropical Twist and Mango Mania. I've tried all four flavours and I liked most of them. They all come in a tall clear bottle with a green lid. They have two labels, one on each side, printed onto the bottle. On the front is the Nestle logo, the Boost Juice Bras logo and the name of the smoothie plus a reason why this particular smoothie is good for you. On the back of the bottle is a list of what they are made from (100% natural), the GDA information and some information about the other smoothies in this range. The lid is easy to unscrew and stays watertight when you do it back up. The bottle is made from PET so it might not be recyclable in some areas but is made from 50% recycled plastic.

What makes these smoothies better than other varieties, apart from being 100% natural is that they are each designed to boost something in particular.
Smashing Strawberry - Mind Boost - For Brainiacs
Berry Blitz - Immunity Boost - For Those Who Like To Be Fighting Fit
Tropical Twist - Metabolism Boost - For Those Who Like To Get Noticed
Mango Mania - Energy Boost - For Super Humans

I don't know if these really work but the idea is that if you drink them regularly then they might improve those qualities. This is because the fruits that each one is made from are specially chosen to help with that one thing you want to boost.

I think that all of these smoothies are really tasty but liking them does depend on whether or not you like the fruit that they're made from, my husband only liked one of these as he is not a big fan of fruit but I enjoyed almost all of them. I'm reviewing the Smashing Strawberry flavour (Boost Your Mind) because it's the one that I drink the most often, the only one my husband likes so we buy it most often. It is a pinkish red in colour, before you open the bottle you need to shake it otherwise you will end up with some very thick parts and others like water. Once is has been shaken it is still quite a thick liquid but that's what you'd expect from a smoothie. It has a very fruity smell, a mixture of strawberry and banana which is really very appetising.

The smoothie is made from 23 Strawberries (30%), 2 Apples, 1 Banana, 2 Oranges, Ginseng Root Extract and Guarana Extract.

As you can see that's a lot of fruit, a 250ml serving about 1 cup or 1/3 or the bottle contains 1 of your 5 a day. The reason why this smoothie is so good for you mind is mainly because of the Ginseng and Guarana extracts. Ginseng helps reduce fatigue, improve feelings of energy and help memory! Whereas Guarana stimulates a person's alertness, helps you to fight fatigue, increases stamina and physical endurance! This and the fact that Strawberries contain loads of antioxidants and are low in calories and that bananas contain a lot potassium and fibre to provide you with longer lasting energy means that this really is a healthy drink and should help boost your mind. Plus they are only made from 100% natural ingredients, he list above is all that they contain, no additives or preservatives, nothing bad for you at all!

Now for the most important part, how do they taste? Well these are best served cold, so pop it into the fridge for a little while after you've bought it or drink it straight away seeing as they are kept in the chilled section at Tesco. The first taste you get is of strawberries but then after a few seconds you get the taste of the banana which goes very well with the strawberries followed by a slight after taste of apple and orange, after a couple more mouthfuls you really can taste all of the ingredients apart from the ginseng and guarana extract. It is a wonderful taste, slightly sweet and very fruity. The smoothie, although thick has no bits in it and is pleasant to drink.

This is my second favourite smoothie from the range, my favourite is the Mango Mania one which contains mainly mangos but also oranges and limes, this one has bits in it but the taste of Mango is nice and refreshing, dark orange in colour
After the mango flavour this strawberry one is my favourite then it's Berry Blitz, reddish purple in colour and which contains Raspberries, Blackcurrants and Blueberries, it has a few seeds in it but apart from that is totally bit free.
My least favourite is the Tropical Twist flavour which is light orange in colour, I didn't like it because I think it was ruined by the Green Tea that they added to it, that's just my personal taste though and others may enjoy it as it contains Pineapple, Passionfruit and Banana plus the dreaded Green Tea.

These smoothies are definitely available in Tesco and probably a few other Supermarkets, if you want more information about them then take a look at their website:

Also if you want a free smoothie then go to

You will however now need a printer as they are no longer sending the vouchers to you, you have to print them yourself. No printer? Remember they cost £2.50 but I really do think they are worth every penny.

Overall I think that this is a brilliant product that tastes amazing, I really do love drinking these and I recommend them to everybody else who likes smoothies and fruit. Not only are they really tasty but they are healthy and help to Boost Your Mind as well. Their only draw back is that if you drink too much you get a slight residue on your teeth, however if you stick to the recommended serving of 250ml you won't have a problem.
