... Bowmore boasts a fairly complex taste and smooth texture. It smells less of alcohol that Laphroaig, but there's not less in it (43%). In my opinion, Bowmore is not quite as distinctive as Lagavulin, but that may be due to it's slightly weaker aroma. Bowmore is light in color, and while Lagavulin is dominating with smoke and peat, Bowmore introduces some more subtle flavors, possibly due to the small river used for the distillation water. Bowmore is possibly the best single malt scotch that no one has tried. It is most often found in the 12 year old variety, though the distillery offers a variety of ages for this excellent malt. Just like Lagavulin and Laphroaig, Bowmore comes from the island of Islay in Scotland, and in my experience this fact alone signifies a superior quality.
