Advantages: Tasty, refreshing

Disadvantages: Lots of sugar for a water alternative

Drench is the new drink form Britvic and has evolved rather quickly. It started of as Britvic's new mineral water brand, and I first heard of it, as I'm sure many did, through the television ads featuring Brains.

I had tried the water, and yes it was water, not really much to review there! It seems just a few months since I saw those Brains adverts and when I was in the shop the other day I saw that they had already launched new Drench products.

I opted for the new Blackcurrant and Apple flavour spring water, priced at 70p for 440ml in my local store. I guess this is relatively expensive for a bottle of flavoured water, but this was a corner shop and I'm sure you could get it a little cheaper in the supermarket.

This is the blurb on the bottle " At Drench you'd expect us to only drink water, but then sometimes, we just want a bit of taste too. It's time to drench your taste buds with lovely spring water and fruit juices. Give yourself a juicy break from the norm - we reckon you'll never look back." Hmmm, I think it probably innocent smoothies fault that all these companies try to put this friendly little remarks on their bottles only not so witty.

The taste of the drink was nice, not over exciting but it was a nice change from water. It had quite a dry taste, I think I was expecting a little sweeter. I don't think it's worth that little kick of flavour for the calories it provides though, bearing in mind water contains next to nothing, the addition of a small amount of fruit juices seems to bump it up somewhat. Each bottle contains over 150 calories and 35g of sugar! I think that's a lot for flavoured spring water.

Overall, a pleasant product I would drink again, but there's a lot of other drink I'd chose first.

Summary: Wouldn't be my top choice of drink

I tried a bottle of Drench, not this flavour though, and thought it was horrible.

Over 150 calories! That's shocking.
