Advantages: great taste, good variety of flavours, cheap, healthy
Disadvantages: A bottle doesn't last long
Squash in our house is drunk like it is going out of fashion (I blame my husband) and one of our favourites is Robinsons Barley Orange Flavour. In my opinion the company offers a high quality product compared to the other squash drink bottles out there.
Robinsons squash is basically a concentrated juice that you mix with water to make a really refreshing drink. You can vary the strength of the drink by the amount of concentrate you put in, quite a lot if you like it strong and only a dribble if you like it weak. I would say each 1 litre bottle probably lasts for about a week in a family household. Each bottle costs me 98p in Sainsburys so quite a cheap alternative to fizzy drinks or wine/beer.
Robinsons the company have been around for a long long time. On their bottles they say "we first made fruit and barley for players at the Wimbledon tennis championships in 1934 and it has been loved on and off the court ever since." I definitely think this is a good marketing ploy by Robinsons as the drink is associated with sport and tennis it promotes the fact that it is a healthy choice and a good one for mothers to make for their kids. I would definitely give it to my kids rather than suggary alternatives.
Robinsons Fruit and Barley has quite a cloudy look to it but the taste is not sickly or sweet like some other squashes. It now comes in a variey of other flavours such as lemon and pink grapefuit (another favourite of ours)
IIn a one litre bottle they say a 250ml serving contains only 49 calories which is good and 11g of sugar.
It has no artifical colours, no artificial flavours and is suitable for vegetarians. It aslo has royal appointment so if it is good enough for the Queen it must be good enough for us!
Definitely a product to always keep in your cupboard.
Summary: A great, refreshing year round drink for kids and adults alike!
