Blood Orange Juice from the Robinson's High Juice is damn tasty!

Here Are Some Facts About The Blood Orange.

The blood orange is a hybrid of ancient origin, possibly between the pomelo and the tangerine. It probably originated in Sicily .
Their are three types of blood orange:

The Moro, a recent addition to the blood orange family, is the most colorful of the three types
The Tarocco is a medium-sized fruit and is perhaps the sweetest and most flavorful of the three types
The Sanguinello (sahn-gwee-NEHL-loh), also called Sanguinelli in the US (its Sicilian common name)
(wikipedia)

Sometimes there is dark coloring on the exterior of the rind as well, depending on the variety of blood orange. The degree of coloration depends on light, temperature and variety .

Taste? sweet and juicy and slightly less acidic than regular oranges .

Looks? The blood orange is identified by its crimson, blood-colored flesh, almost on the reddish side compared to a grapefruit .

Touch? Its skin is often smooth but can be pitted more often than not .

Blood oranges are a good source of Vitamin C. The fruit's red pigment, anthocyanin, is an antioxidant that reduces the risks associated with many ailments, including age-related illnesses .

Blood oranges contain about 130 percent of the recommended amounts of Vitamin C, and diminish the risk of heart disease, some types of cancer and "bad" cholesterol build-up. They may also reduce the risk of cataracts, and aid in the body's healing process .

One medium-size orange contains 260 milligrams of potassium, 15 percent of the FDA's daily recommendation .

Eating a medium-sized orange provides 28 percent of the recommended daily amount of dietary fiber .

Oranges can also be a valuable source of iron, calcium and vitamin A .

So why not enjoy it in a squash!

Summary: A tasty snack, can be eat on its own, blended with other fruits and/or yoghurts or a fruit cocktail.
